As we kick off Memorial Day weekend, don't forget about our furry friends! Whether you're hitting the trails, firing up the grill, or just chilling at home, make sure your pets stay safe and comfortable too. Have a great weekend and remember the significance of this day. 🐾💙
🐾🔍 Don't leave your furry friend's safety up to chance! Microchipping your pet is one of the best decisions you can make as a responsible pet owner. Here's why:
1️⃣ **Permanent Identification**: Unlike collars and tags that can fall off, a microchip is a permanent form of identification. It ensures that your pet can always be linked back to you, even if they lose their collar.
2️⃣ **Peace of Mind**: Life is unpredictable, but microchipping offers peace of mind. If your pet ever gets lost or separated from you, their microchip can be scanned by shelters, vets, or animal control, helping them find their way back home.
3️⃣ **Safety First**: Microchipping is a safe and quick procedure that can be done by your veterinarian. It's a one-time investment in your pet's safety that lasts a lifetime.
Don't wait until it's too late! Microchip your pet today and give them the best chance of being reunited with you if they ever wander off. 🐶🐱

Due to high cases of kennel cough recently, please be on the look out for symptoms of coughing, sneezing, runny nose, etc. If you notice any of these symptoms, PLEASE do your best to isolate your dog at home for a couple weeks. For any questions/concerns give us a call at 701-232-3391.
Owners should be aware of an aggressive strain of kennel cough being found in the area.
We are proud to announce we have been reaccredited!! Unlike human hospitals, accreditation is completely voluntary for animal hospitals. Being AAHA-accredited means our hospital demonstrates an exceptional level of medical care and client service! During our re-evaluation we were assessed on approximately 900 standards.
Fun fact: Valley Veterinary Hospital is the first hospital in North Dakota to become accredited! We have been accredited since 1954. Thank you to all our staff for all of your hard work! ❤

With the hot weather we have had so far, here are some tips to keep your pet safe this summer & avoid a heatstroke! 😎
🐾 Ensure your pet always has access to a cool shaded area.
🐾Restrict exercise on warm days and do walks early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are not at its highest.
🐾Check for hot pavements! (Remember the 7 second test? 😉)
🐾Never leave pets in a car.
🐾Ensure your pet always has drinking water available. (Adding ice can help keep it cool! 🧊)
Early signs to watch out for:
🐾Panting, Restlessness, or Agitation
🐾Drooling
🐾Red gums/tongue
🐾Increased heart rate
🐾Vomiting or diarrhea
Advanced signs:
🐾Lethargy
🐾Confusion
🐾Weakness or collapse
🐾Seizures
Things you can do if you start noticing symptoms:
🐾Take your pet somewhere cool and offer small sips of water.
🐾Pour cool water on them or drape a cool wet towel over them. (*Do not use ice cold water as it can reduce blood flow to the skin or cause shivering which will raise their body temperature further.)
🐾Call us at 701-232-3391 or the Red River Animal Emergency Hospital at 701-478-9299.
Happy Monday! ✨
The 4th of July is less than a month away! If your pet needs some medication to help keep them calm during the fireworks, please call now to ensure we can get medications filled and ready for the big day. 😊
Friendly reminder when going on walks with your pet(s) this summer to perform the "Seven-Second Test." This is where you touch the pavement with the back of your hand for seven seconds to determine if it is too hot for your pets paws! 😎
