This litte hamster is Diamond. She saw us last week for impacted cheek pouches! Somehow, she managed to get food stuck in her cheek pouches for so long that it began to cause infection. She was feeling MUCH better once it was removed under sedation. She was such a friendly little hamster that Dr. Krumm was happy to treat!

🎙 Interview with Danielle
-
What made you decide to become a vet tech?
"I always loved animals growing up and knew I wanted to work with them one day. After I got my first dog as an adult I was introduced to the existance of technicians and knew that was it for me."
-
What is your favorite thing about being a vet tech at AHC?
"The fact that we are an AAHA accredited clinic as well as being the only Fear Free clinic in the Dakotas. I love that we hold ourselves to such high standards."
-
Can you think of an exciting case that you have been a part of as a vet tech?
"When I was doing my externship, I did a two week rotation in an ICU. There was a dog there that had eaten four frozen pizzas and a deer carcass. She required surgery and was the sweetest dog, even after such a big surgery."

🎙 Interview with Jen, LVT
-
What made you decide to become a vet tech?
"I became a vet tech because I always liked science and enjoyed learning about things in the medical field. I've always loved animals and wanted to be able to combine those things. I love being able to provide comfort to pets when they are sick, waking up from surgery or even just when coming in for routine care . Animals give us so much and it's so rewarding to be able to give them something back!"
-
What is your favorite thing about being a vet tech at AHC?
"My favorite thing about being a tech at AHC is being able to work in our Fear Free environment and help to alleviate stress in our patients. Animals communicate with us through their body language and I enjoy being able to educate clients on what their pets are saying. I love training dogs - and their owners - I especially enjoy training cooperative care procedures!
-
Can you think of an exciting case that you have been a part of as a vet tech?
"There have been way to many memorable cases, clients and patients but some of my favorite memories are the relationships I formed with our chemotherapy patients."

🎙 Interview with Tasha, LVT
-
What made you decide to become a vet tech?
"While I have always been an animal lover, the moment I decided I wanted to be a vet tech was when I was working on a polo farm in Australia. I was helping the vet do ultrasounds and x-rays on horses. I thought it was fascinating and decided right then and there, that is what I wanted to do."
-
What is your favorite thing about being a vet tech at AHC?
"It’s hard to pick just one. I love the fear free aspect that allows us to provide care for our patients while also minimizing their fear, anxiety and stress at the clinic. I love that we have to follow AAHA guidelines that ensure we are providing high quality care to our patients. Lastly, I love the wide variety of animals we get to see at the clinic on a daily basis. One of the main reasons I chose to work at AHC is because we not only see cats and dogs but exotics as well."
-
Can you think of any exciting cases that you have been a part of as a vet tech?
"We had a rat come in that had a lump removal days prior, she had ripped her sutures out so her owners rushed her in to the clinic. Some of her intestines were coming through the hole, so we rushed her into emergency surgery. She did well in surgery and for recovery. She was a sweet girl."
