Happy, happy news today. Sweet Annie went home with her brand new dad who will treat her like a princess.

They left the shelter to go shopping for her at Tractor Supply.

Dave is a repeat adopter. He adopted Cheyenne from us a couple years ago who lived every day thereafter with nothing but love. Cancer separated them a few months ago. When he was ready, he came to look for another companion and fell in love with Annie.

Hey all! Feeding 20+ dogs every day = lots of food. The shelter staff just opened the last big bag of Purina Dog Chow. That bag was donated by Count Chocula’s adopters on Saturday.

We are in desperate need of original Purina Dog Chow in the green bag. What we have will only feed 2 more days.

Will put link to Chewy wish list in the comments. Tractor Supply has the food in stock. If you buy food there, Josh Henderson has offered to deliver it to us if you can’t. Just tell the cashier it’s for the shelter & to let Josh know. Walmart likely has it in stock too.

THIS is an example of where your donations go when you donate to our medical fund, donate food, treats, etc.

Dominic came to the shelter when he was completely broken down & had given up on life. Folks helped get him to the shelter where love and care could be poured into him.

He had monetary donations, toys and a blanket made just for him.

Yesterday he went home with his very special mom (& grandmom). His blanket & toys went with him. Before he left, he had a photoshoot with the fabulous Jackie Craig.

Jackie regularly visits the shelter with her daughter & they shower the dogs with love and attention. You can too!! Come on out Tue - Sat. The dogs need you so much.

Back to Dominic. He is now Nick. He is settling into his home and doing well. His Mom has started a page just for him. I’m sure she will pop into the comments & provide a link if you’d like to send Nick a friend request.

These 7 dogs are our “newbies”. They all need an initial sponsorship.

The $50 initial sponsorship goes toward their HW test, initial vaccinations, deworming & first dose of HW-Flea-Intestinal worm preventative.

Every dog after stray hold gets these basics. This also lowers their adoption fee to $50 since this part of their vetting is paid. Upon adoption, the adopt fee goes toward the spay-neuter and microchip. Any additional medical provided (varies by dog) comes from the medical fund.

Every dog is also going to need a 2nd sponsorship that will cover 3 months of HW-Flea-Intestinal worm prevention for them. Dogs are staying with us longer & it costs an average of $300-400 per month to treat all the dogs. We’ve been averaging 23 dogs in our care. Currently at 26. Next doses are due August 13th.

For right now, just working on initial sponsorships for these 7. Comment below if you want / can sponsor a dog.

We still have Bubbles & Trinity available for adoption. They are two of our long timers.

And to address the elephant in the room(the photos), we thought they were just hound mixes. Turns out they’re a rare breed of hounds. Kentucky Mud Hounds.

26 dogs. When we say we are FULL, we are FULL. Our shelter is designed to have 16 indoor kennels. We have 26 precious dogs in our loving care. Plus cats!

All are deserving of loving forever homes. Each can be adopted for $50 and they go home spayed-neutered, vaccinated, microchipped w/ free registration, dewormed, heartworm tested and started on monthly Flea-HW prevention. We will make every effort to send them home with a bag of food to get them started out at home.

DESPERATELY need people to give the dogs some time each week. Visit them. Take them to the Petio to give them attention; take pictures & videos to post on your social media; tag us so we can share on this page. They need to be SEEN.

She will be 7 this month. She is heartworm positive(no need to worry though, we do provide treatment).

She would do well with chill dogs I think. She’s clean in her kennel. She’s a literal angel. Good with kids too:)

Tomorrow is a new week and we’d love to get some applications on Count. He is well mannered. He is clean. He loves absolutely everyone.

We have no idea why he hasn’t been swooped up and adopted. He is the ideal big boy at a little over 70 pounds.

Krystal Wimpee helped our sweet Aussie, Irwin feel immensely better. His mats were so bad they were tearing at his poor skin. Poor guy had to be hurting so bad! Today starts a brand new journey in Irwin’s life.

If you’re interested in adopting, come visit him!

He is quite dog selective(calm dogs would be a much better candidate for a doggy sibling).

Has not been tested around cats yet.

Probably would be okay with older kids(12 or so and up). He’s still a bit timid so no super littles for this guy.

Wooohooooo Rogers left the shelter today in a Cadillac Escalade. If we know Rogers, he will be driving it tomorrow!

This is Tina.

Tina isn’t mean or anything but she doesn’t really know how to be petted. So she gets these crazy eyes and turns into the silliest cat there ever has been if you even acknowledge her.

Harley, Gravy and Jaime have all been adopted to wonderful homes so that makes Tina our longtimer.

There will never be a dull moment with this one. I can assure you that. Once she acclimates to your home she is going to be the best kitty there ever has been!

❤️❤️ Thank you for the donations! We are now $700 away from meeting our $2300 goal to wipe out the current debt. After this campaign, I will be seeking special sponsorships to hopefully keep up with the pace of the ongoing need. ♥️♥️

We depend on donations to provide basic veterinary care to the shelter animals. Every dog & cat leaves the shelter spayed-neutered, heartworm tested, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped and started on monthly Heartworm & Flea prevention. If an animal comes in with a treatable skin allergy, injury, an infection or is heartworm positive, we are committed to treating that animal if it is medically & financially feasible. This is only possible with donations to our medical fund in the form of sponsorships & donations.

In this picture are 25 adoptable dogs. We also have a dozen+ cats. Our shelter is designed to house 16 dogs.
Adoptions have been very slow this year with animals spending more time with us.

We currently owe $2300 in vetting costs. Our medical fund is depleted. These costs have come from treating a heartworm positive dog, animals who’ve needed antibiotics, lab testing, anti-inflammatories, severe skin conditions from flea allergies and monthly Heartworm & Flea prevention for an average of 20 dogs.

We must pay off this bill & solicit special sponsorships for the HW-Flea prevention meds in August.

We desperately need your financial donations.

We are now able to take donations directly on our website. Any debit or credit card can be used securely on our website powered by Stripe & Wordpress. You can select a One-Time donation or a recurring monthly donation in any amount you choose.

We have a website! Visit & bookmark it. If you have a question about the shelter, it’s likely right there. We are VERY short staffed so it’s difficult to always answer basic questions here or via Messenger timely ~~~ so the website should meet that need.
