Meet Ginger, the 10 week old Brittany Spaniel that was biting everything she could get her mouth on.

We know those tiny puppy teeth can pack a surprising punch! While adorable, puppy biting can quickly become frustrating. But fear not, fellow puppy lovers! This nibbling behavior is a normal part of development, and there are ways to navigate this chompy stage.

Top Tips to Minimize Puppy Biting:

1. Redirect with Chew Toys: 🦴 Provide plenty of safe, attractive chew toys and redirect your puppy’s attention to these when they start nibbling on you.
2. Stop and Be Still: 🚫 When mouthing gets too rough, stop interacting with your puppy. Be still and turn your back. Resume attention when your puppy is calm. This communicates that the fun ends when biting starts.

We are certified in TAGteach Level 1 which is a testament to our commitment to providing effective and positive training methods for both humans and animals. This certification demonstrates our understanding of the core principles of TAGteach and our ability to apply them in various learning situations to help you understand how to train your dog.

It's Core Principles are:

- Positive Reinforcement

- Acoustic Marker (We use an auditory marker to help you understand when you perform the step properly with your dog. I usually use the word "yes.)

Have you worked with a trainer that used a shock collar or prong collar? These negative reinforcement tools are so common in dog training but not always necessary to improve your dog's behavior.

We believe in Positive Dog training. Positive dog training is more than just giving rewards to our dogs. However, that is crucial component. As we are rewarding dogs for behavior that we like and redirect or ignore behavior that we don’t like, we run into obstacles.

We are firm believers that positive training isn’t just about the dogs. Owners struggle too. We learned that our emotions, thoughts and actions shape our reality. We help teach owners this. Our dogs reflect how we feel, think and act. Once we can change that, our dog’s behavior changes.

Ready for Happier Walks with Your Dog? Changing direction method can be a good tool for you and your dog.

Find a low distracting area when you start training this. Parking lots are great. Once your dog starts to calm down you can progress toward the walking trail or a more distracting area. This method is simple and unique.

A clicker can be a great tool to train animals with fun and rewards. When you train with a clicker, you teach your dog without force. It is a positive technique.
