We got our first Cayuga duck egg! Some of the ladies are old enough to start laying ❤️ look at how pretty they are in the sun. I hope to offer hatching eggs one day. 😍

The chickens get an extra special fancy treat today! ❤️ I had to order special sushi roe for my new gluten free lifestyle(I have celiac) but Amazon goofed on packing and it arrived open and all thawed(should be frozen still). Sad for me but yay for the chickens! 😆🤦‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

We have two ladies that wanna be mamas 😍 one silkie and one olive egger ❤️ iv marked the eggs they want so I don’t accidentally collect them or they don’t take on to many they can’t handle. In about 20 days we will see what happens 🙃 I’m rooting for them!

Storage for fresh eggs! ❤️ I try not to refrigerate ours that way y’all can choose how you want to store them. The eggs yall get from us are generally from that day or that week at most. Once you refrigerate you cannot leave on the counter as the eggs will sweat and that can introduce bacteria. Also I never wash the eggs to keep the protective bloom coating on them. ❤

It’s amazing how little farmers there are now days

A couple weeks ago when I was a volunteer for career day at my daughters school, an idea was brought up that was similar to a Texas Farm Bureau display, but I chose M&M’s, because kids love to see M&M’s!

It worked. Every child that walked up wanted them. Which created a perfect opportunity and focus to show them that there are an estimated 333 Million people in the United States.
The ones that are responsible for growing their food & fiber, make up only 0.60% of that population.

Farmers are highly outnumbered already. With a fast growing population and a decrease in farmers, it seems a little concerning for our future.
