Sadly, we will NOT be hosting a Halloween event this year.

As of now, we have not received approval and it is too close to the desired date. It would be unrealistic to look at another date as there are numerous events happening next weekend.

Our club is deeply saddened by this development. We’ve hosted this event for several years now. Any community events must be approved by MCCS and base.

We are going to follow through with this process to hopefully avoid any issues with future events. Please check back for a different community event this year. We sincerely want to support our community and this event is one way we do that.

Thank you for understanding. We love you all!

Howdy my friends 🧡

Let me begin by saying sorry for the lack of information being pushed out about the desired Halloween community event. Unfortunately, we have been waiting on approval from MCCS and base.

At this time we have NOT received approval for the community event. We are still waiting for information and clarification from SJA.

That being said, we may not be hosting a community event. Our desired date is October 21st. We hope to receive approval, but if we do not please look out for a different community event in the future.

Thank y’all SO much for supporting us the past several years that we have hosted this event! 🧡

🐴Community Event🤠

A SGRC member approached with the idea of a food drive for C.H.E.W. (Children Healthy Eating on Weekends) in Onslow county. She is part of MSKA (military spouses kickball association) and they have donated to C.H.E.W. the past several seasons. They are doing so again this year! Her team, Venom, will be partnering with us to host a food drive.

⭐️People bring a food item to donate for entry to the property. This is essentially the same thing we do for Halloween, minus the decorations! You can walk through the barn, meet horses & SGRC members!⭐️

Listed below are the details for the event and food items needed for donations!

Howdy y’all 🤠

The stables on base are NOT open to the public.
We do try to offer community events when we can.
However, the only people allowed on the property are members of SGRC and their escorted guests.

These animals are Privately Owned and under the care of their owners. They are not governments owned or owned by MCCS. The stables can be compared to a dog boarding facility. Those are not open to public interaction, this is SGRC.

SGRC is a private organization that is allowed to lease the stables from Camp Lejeune. It is not operating as a business for the public. However, owners can allow guests to interact their animals under specific circumstances and with proper waivers.

⭐️Please do NOT come on the property without a current member. This is a safety issue because every horse is different. And they all have different needs.⭐️

If you choose to enter, bypassing signs posted, PMO WILL be called.

Feeding them without permission could cause the death of an animal. Again, they all have different needs. Some may not be able to process what they are being given or could even be allergic. Do NOT feed the horses under any circumstances.

Entering the stall of an animal you to do not could cause harm to yourself.

Do NOT enter any stall, feed room, trailer, hay room, or pasture under any circumstances.

These rules are in place to keep people safe, as well as the horses that call SGRC home.

I understood that SGRC is unique and because it is on base there is some confusion on what it is.

I hope this clears up some questions! Again, we simply want to keep people safe. Members are more than willing to introduce you to their horses if they can!

We know that horses are special and we LOVE to share that! Under the safest circumstances possible though.

Thank you!

FAQ #3

Waitlist times are subject to change.
Most families are here 3 years, therefore wait times can be long depending on how often people leave.

SGRC is not always able to create quick turn around. However, spots may open suddenly because the military will often move people.

It’s also important to see the property and learn about what SGRC is and can offer. SGRC is a unique boarding opportunity. The vision, circumstances, and community are important.

Thank you for your patience!

Howdy y’all!

I am excited to begin a series of posts that answer frequently asked questions!

We hope this clears up any confusion and allows you to know us better. 💜

🐴I would like to note that a lot of our members have no problem introducing people to their horses if they have the time. We all have a love of horses and feel so blessed to be able to utilize this club. Passing that love onto others is part of the horse world. There are simply rules in place we must all follow.🐴

SGRC

The Scarlet and Gold Riding Club is a self-care boarding facility for the military community on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. We have 2 barns, 4 riding rings, a round pen, 7 pastures, a wash rack, and a farrier shed. We pride ourselves in being a happy healthy place for horses and families. We love our farm so much that we enjoy inviting the rest of our military community to enjoy it too! We will be hosting family events throughout the year and hope to see everyone there. Please check out our page to stay up-to-date with the upcoming public events!
