This week Nicole and Michelle traveled to St. Louis for the 2024 Top Producer Women's Summit.

It was an honor to be part of such an amazing group of inspiring and driven women along with so many great leaders from Bayer. Learning and networking with other women in agriculture relit our passion for this industry.

We spent two days building relationships, expanding our education, touring the Bayer Crop Science facility, and Nicole taking part in the top producer women's panel. This kind of hands-on, interactive experience was exactly what we needed. The opportunity to speak with and learn from some of the top Bayer team members and women from other farms was priceless.

It’s a good thing these guys make planting season look so 🔥 , because it’s been a bit stressful around here. Anyone else 😅?

Thanks, Randy for this amazing footage!

We feel incredibly blessed for the awesome team we get to work with every day. They are some of the hardest working people I know and push hard when we have to ask it of them.

Also, the majority of our beautiful pictures and videos are captured by our very own. This 🔥 drone work is brought to you by Andor Van Brakel.

At least we had a beautiful light show 🌌 to appreciate this weekend while we were putting in some long hours. Did anyone else get a glimpse of the northern lights? Share below!

‘24 Planter Clinic ✔️

Taking a moment to express our gratitude for the incredible crew that supports our agricultural operations. Without their hard work, dedication, and expertise, our farm would not be able to thrive the way it does.

Now, who is getting antsy to get into the field?? Sometimes holding off because it’s best is the hardest part when the fields look ready!

A very interesting read for all of us in Agriculture.
No matter what color you’re loyal to 🟢🔴🟡
To have a look into the minds of the past to see the determination and innovation first hand would be incredible.
Well worth a read!

“Deere combined experience, ingenuity, and opportunity to build his steel plow.”

"One thing for certain," Dahlstrom concludes.
"Deere was ahead of his time in philanthropy,
abolition, promoting education, church assistance, and the advancement of those around him."

Who will be the innovators of our time for those to write about hundreds of years from now?

To go truly big-time, John Deere needed an unfettered pipeline to a particular resource: steel.

Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow! This means SPRING may be more near than in prior years. Since 1887, no shadow seen has only occurred 20 times 😦. While I’m begging Phil to be right, we also know his accuracy record is less than par. Sorry, Phil 🦫.
Meanwhile, the Old Famer’s Almanac seems to have an 80% accuracy rate. See below for their take on this spring and summer months.
No hard feelings for Phil, but it’s no wonder a “Farmer’s” perspective may be more accurate. After all, we pay attention to weather and past trends almost too closely for our own sanity sometimes.
One thing is always true, what the weather will do is out of our control and prediction more often than not.
So! What would an early spring mean for you and your farm 🌱?
🔺Extra time for spring tillage?
🔺Possibly warmer more stable soil temperatures?
🔺Better nutrient availability?
🔺Dryer planting conditions with less soil compaction and better plant population?
🔺Targeted and timely plant dates?

☔️ Are you team early spring or would you enjoy 6 more weeks of winter ❄️?

Officially ❺❺ days until the 1st day of Spring
We have been blessed with a mild winter, but the desire for warmer and longer days always creeps in about now.

—What are you most excited for this Spring❓
I personally need that daily sunshine and 2 extra hours before sunset!

✨ ❷⓿❷❹ has arrived, ready or not! ✨
This is the time of year we spend reflecting on 2023 and looking ahead to set new goals.
➖Most inputs are purchased and in the books ➖Shop punch lists are always steady
➖Taxes and year end financials create piles of paperwork on our busy desks

As we look forward and put together our positions for this coming crop year, we also spend time setting new goals.
▫️Goals for ourselves as individuals
▫️Goals for ourselves as employers
▫️Goals as a management team of a business
▫️Goals for our crop health and target yields

What are your goals? Putting pen 🖊️ to paper 📄 is always important to bring your ideas and visions to life!

Hi! 👋🏻 My name is 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒘𝒊𝒏.
—Out of all of the crew you 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 recognize me; yes my hair is captivating, but more importantly because I am the longest standing employee at Gary Hofer Farms. I always make a point to take the time to chat with Michelle and Nicole’s kiddos who inevitably end up at work now and again. My hobbies include staying busy and using my canny sense of humor to give Olivia a hard time on a daily basis.

As the years pass, my roles around here have changed, but I’ve most recently been busy as supervisor of the sprayer crew and the “dome.” Which is no easy feat!!

🎯 You’ve got ☝🏻 shot at who took on “Darwin for the day.” Give us your best guess below.
And yes.. she dressed up our office cat Patsy as Darwin as well. 😆😆
