Sahssi's Feline Rescue

New to the area, but not new to the scene. Frisky felines are our Passion. Sahssi had a zest for life and never seemed to be in a bad mood.

We are rehabbers of stray and feral cats, while also supplying a nursery to kittens and pregnant Queens in need. Sahssi was a long haired grey torti and a beautiful soul who left this world too soon, as most of our loved furbabies do. Most would say that her nearly 19 years of life was a good run, but the ones who loved her wish she had been around a lot longer. She loved everyone, humans...dogs..

.other cats...chickens. She was a cat who didn't have a mean bone in her body, but the fall leaves had a thing or two coming when they fell! Sahssi, our sweet girl, was diagnosed with cancer at 18 and she began to fade quickly (within only a few months), with a heavy heart we had to make the decision of quality of life over quantity and in my arms she passed over the rainbow bridge with the assistance of our family vet. Even our vet said she would be missed and had tears in her eyes as we said our goodbyes to sweet Sahssi. It is for this reason we had decided to start Sahssi's Feline Rescue in her honor, to help kitties in need that had been abandoned or neglected. Between trapping feral cats and strays, we are trying to help cut down on the local population. Our end goal is to rehab all of these wonderful babies and find them forever homes after being vetted and properly socialized. We do NOT abort kittens or condone it, unlike some rescues in the area. We also will never euthanize a cat just because of behavior issues. It is our job to rehab these kitties for as long as it takes until they find their forever home. Euthanasia is only used as a last resort when medical support no longer provides the quality of life we strive for.

Meet our other foster, Sarabi!
(And her kittens)

This precious feisty kittie came to us from a nice lady, who was concerned about her being pregnant and living on the streets. With this lady's help she was trapped and turned over to our care. We have had Sarabi for a little over a month now, and after only a couple weeks here she gave birth to 4 healthy babies.

We are still learning Sarabi's personality, but what we do know is that she is a protective momma and made sure to set boundaries with us at first about handling her babies. Lol. We respected this boundary but she finally relaxed and is fine with us handling her little ones now.

Sarabi absolutely loves to be pet, but doesn't want you to stop once you get going and bats at your hand as if to say I want more! She isn't mean though and has no bad manners when it comes to her litter box.

The kittens are now 2 weeks old and thriving, we can't wait to learn their personalities as they grow. We were blessed with 3 boys and a girl and they will be available for adoption after vaccinations and spays/neuters.

Meet Jasper the shy!

This beautiful ball of fur may be a full ragdoll but unsure as he was caught running the streets of Jackson. He was skinny, full of burrs, and had cuts on his face. We posted online looking for his owner, but alas never found. With a bit of love, care, and delicious food he has made a full recovery.

He loves sun bathing in the window and long pet sessions, but can be rather shy at first. It will take a little bit for him to get used to his new home, but he's a sweet boy. He seems fine with other cats and tolerates dogs, but take due diligence when introducing new pets.

He will be getting his vaccinations and neutering done once we are able to do so and then be up for adoption!
