Hit us up at the Des Moines' Downtown Farmers' Market. Our buddy Sean from Jax & Josie's Smoked Jerky is going to be just off Water and Court Avenue so come join the pawty! Caffeinate early with Coffalo Coffee, then bring your pup down our way!

We'll be in our usual spot on the southeast corner of 2nd and Court.

What do you get when you combine a love for dogs and a love for smoking meats? Jax & Josie's Smoked Jerky. Our dad couldn't help but notice the slight increase in drool on the patio as he shook his head over the failed attempt at making his own smoked jerky treats. He uses the same cuts of beef that he cooks for himself and seasonings that were hand picked specifically with canine health benefits in mind. The 100% all natural grain and preservative free smoked jerky was so good, we decided it had to be shared. Knowing the importance of remembering where one came from, Josie has decided to donate a portion of all proceeds to the Heartland German Shepherd Rescue (HUGS). Our newest brother, Griffey, is also a HUGS alum who loves his taste testing role.

We hope this Jerky brings the same tail wags to your loving home that it has ours!

How’d it go?

As much as I hate having mountains in my rearview mirror, when the website looks like this, it’s time to pack it up and go home. There’s treats to make.

Thank you Rocky Mountain Groom Expo for being such a critical launching point for a new generation of groomers and a wonderful organization to team up with. Major shout out to Under the Sun Dog Training and Daycare for access to your amazing facility.

And thank you to every single person who let me bring their bad dog good treats. I’m so grateful to be able to treat your dogs like family while missing mine back home. I’ll see you all next year right back here and can’t wait to get spooky in Mesa 2025!

Rocky Mountain Groom Expo has some long days but so very worth it. SRP does events nationwide and includes everything from conformation to companion and competitive sports, farmers markets, grooming conventions, etc with public and private access, but this is my favorite. Watching the work put in and growth that has occurred in just two years is astounding.

I’m grateful I was able to be a part of year one and had the ability to sponsor year two.

No matter what time of day I wake up, I’m grateful for this one somehow taking up more than half of the bed.

Being in OKC and seeing the national competition for the breed reminded me just how unique he is. Ivy and Maizy, too. I still do not recommend an albino to any inexperienced dog owner, and honestly not sure I suggest Dobies to any new-to-dogs home. Most albino Dobermans look very similar, but Fievel is something else. At a lean 108 # he really is more of a … teacup Dane size. I can’t believe he’s already 10, but I’m glad he’s getting to enjoy what he’s watched me work incredibly hard for.

I work hard so my dogs can live a better life.

Day 4 is a wrap. One more to go.

I’m so freaking honored to feed and treat some of the top dogs in the nation. I’m absolutely astounded at the amount of dogs (and their people) who rep my brand and feed from our co-op. They’ve watched and tolerated the chaos that is my personal life with the utmost grace and patience this last few years. I’m not easy. Neither are any of the growing pains.

It’s not just treats here. I travel the country doing all kinds of events - farmers markets, grooming conventions, canine field events, hell even a cat show might be on the horizon. And our co-op? I work relentlessly behind the scenes for access to raw food, novel proteins, national and international sourcing to keep costs as low as possible, our quality sustainable, and somehow remain consistent enough to risk my entire brand and my name on.

But Oklahoma Summer Classic? Woof. The amount of knowledge I have gained doesn’t even come close to the questions I still have.

Thank you for welcoming me into the community - both confirmation and field. Beyond ecstatic to start bridging the gap. And THANK YOU for trusting me with your pets.

We had some Merry Fishmas saved back for a vendor event in January that just fell through. Guess what that means?! December 30th, our FINAL batch of Merry Fishmas will be packaged up and ready to go. After that, we’ll be switching to mackerel as fishing season opens. Onyx, Subrina, and Juniper are living their best life smashing treats and terrorizing Christmas trees this holiday season! I make no promises that the treats will stop your felines from harassing your Christmas tree, but at least they’ll be distracted for approximately 7 seconds. Meowy Fishmas!

It’s no secret that I’ve been involved in rescue for nearly two decades here in Kansas City and there’s like … a lot of animals in my home. Well, just 6, but they’re almost all special needs. Everything from ocular issues to ortho trauma to epilepsy to cerebellar hypoplasia. What they lack in coordination or body parts, they certainly make up for in personality. ❤️❤️ The most recent addition is Poppy who has CH. She’s 2 years old now but I’ve had her since she was about 10-12 weeks old, missing an eye, barely able to feed herself, and unable to walk more than 1 step without wildly losing her balance, flopping all over the floor in frustration, and her yelling about it the whole time. She’s always been spicy and that determination now has her hilariously bouncing through the house trying to play and stealing snacks from the dogs. P-Pop has her own treats called Poppy’s Poofs and don’t let her hear that bag open because she will hit every wall in the rush to the kitchen and slide in at 100mph. We sent some over to our friend Wobbly Hannah in Nebraska. I think she and her pack are gonna love them! From one CH babe to another, enjoy! #happylikehannah
