The Keswick Hunt Club has a long history of supporting and aligning itself with various community events and charitable foundations. In previous years, proceeds from Club sponsored horse shows, puppy shows,
and special events have gone to support the Habitat for Humanity, SPCA, Charlottesville Free Clinic, and Grace Church. Additionally, the Club endeavors to educate the public on the sport of fo

x hunting through representation at Virginia Horse Council legislative outings, local county fairs, steeplechase exhibitions, and farm tours. The Keswick Hunt Club promotes the sport of fox hunting with organized hunts from September to March. Invited guests and junior riders are encouraged to join the hunts. The Club also maintains a full calendar of social activities throughout the year for both its members and the public to enjoy, including trail rides during the non-hunting season. This page is for friends of KHC to post pictures and share information about club activities and events. The extreme heat this week has caused the postponement of our riding activities. We are erring on the side of caution, but we wouldn't want a horse, rider, or volunteer to suffer heat stress, esp. when our locations aren't equipped to deal with that sort of emergency. So, the trail ride at Clifton this afternoon, Wednesday, June 26, will be rescheduled, as will our trail ride at Rapidan River Ranch that was scheduled for Saturday, June 29, and our hunter pace that was scheduled for this Sunday, June 30. Take care everyone, stay cool and pray for rain and cooler temps!

Our trail clearing for this evening, June 12, has been cancelled. as most of the trail clearing for the hunter pace is complete. We also won't need to do course prep on the 22nd. We will continue to check in with Tracy Kilpatrick as we get closer to the 23rd so keep an eye out for another work session next week if needed.

The Keswick Hunt Club is looking to hire a Stable Manager.

Job Description
The Stable Manager’s primary responsibility includes the daily maintenance, care, and training of the KHC staff horses in a professional, ongoing manner with little supervision. During Hunting season, the Stable Manager shall prepare the horses for the day’s hunt and care for them thereafter. As compensation, in addition to salary, a stall in the KHC barn is offered for the Stable Manager’s use (So long as one is available). The Stable Manager will pay for grain, hay & bedding, when in use, at a rate of $100.00 per week to KHC. This amount is subject to change based on usage and price fluctuations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Communicate regularly with the Huntsman and MFH regarding staff horse condition.
* Work with other KHC staff to ensure the Stables are kept tidy and in a state of good repair.
* Manage an exercise and nutrition program for horses based on needs and time of year.
* Maintain communication with Vet, Farrier and other support staff on horse maintenance.
* Maintain and clean tack and other horse training equipment as well as ensuring proper fit.
* Ensuring horse(s) are clean and properly turned out for Hunting mornings on time.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Knowledge of Stable management.
* Riding ability – confidence riding a variety of horses including over fixed obstacles.
* Detail oriented and able to work in a team environment.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Education and Experience:
* High School diploma or equivalent
