☀️ It only takes 60 seconds on the pavement which is 125℉, for a dog’s paws to burn‼️

With our Las Vegas temperatures well into the danger zone for dogs, it’s important to protect your pets from the outdoor elements.

Before you grab that leash to take your little one on a walk or let them out on the back patio, make sure the pavement is an appropriate temperature for the pads of their paws.

One way to make sure is to take the back of your hand, place it on the pavement or sidewalk, and if it is too hot for your hand then it’s definitely too hot for your little one! If you’re always on the go, you can snag a pair of dog shoes/booties online that will keep their paws safe! You can also opt for a doggy stroller to get from point A-to-B.

Hot pavement aside, heat related illnesses and even death is a big concern during our Vegas summers. We highly recommend keeping your dog(s) indoors during the hottest part of the day.

Many pets become anxious, stressed and fearful around any holiday and Memorial Day Weekend is no exception. In addition to the common well known stresses, the outdoors nature of this holiday poses additional weather related risks that we would like to remind pet owners of.

🐾 Protect your pet from the sun with a sunscreen specifically formulated for pets

🐾 Keep your pet well hydrated and provide ample shade to avoid heatstroke. Signs of heatstroke can include: Excessive panting, drooling, rapid heart rate and increased body temperature.

🐾 Protect their paws from hot pavement. If the pavement feels hot on your end or feet, then it’s definitely hot on your pets paws. We recommend carrying or using a stroller if possible to get from point A to B during the day. Limit walks to the morning or late evening hours to avoid the hottest pavement temperatures.

Outside of weather related risks, be mindful of possible fireworks throughout the weekend. If your pet doesn’t do well with loud noises, we recommend keeping them in a safe room at night or giving them CBD to ease their nerves.

Sirius Pet Styling is owned and operated by Beth Wells and Nicole Williams. The two have a combined 40+ years of experience in the pet grooming industry. Currently, they are two of only a few pet stylists in the Las Vegas Metropolitan area that are registered and Certified by International Professional Groomers, Inc. Nicole and Beth are also PetTech Certified in pet CPR and first aid.

Nicole is a mother of two and an avid pet enthusiast. She is a talented pet stylist with a long-time passion for baking confections. She is excited to expand her skills to pet treats to share with her beloved clients.

Beth, also a mother of two, is a multiple award-winning groomer. She has a strong drive towards learning and educating others in the areas of pet styling, pet welfare, and customer service.

Their dream is a pet styling salon that provides a positive and stress-free environment for pets and people, specialty pet treats, retail convenience, and delivers excellent customer service.
