I’ve been extremely blessed to be able to own my own business… but it’s hard to balance work and parenting so I’m asking for your help in just one simple way…. I schedule my day as well as I can so that I am available to be able to get my kids to and from school as well as their extracurricular activities, but lately I have quite a few clients that think I’m doggie daycare (and I know of some great places if you’re needing doggie daycare). If you can’t pick your dog up within 30 minutes of me letting you know that they’re finished being groomed, I need you to schedule on a day that you will be available to be here in a timely manner. Thanks so much.

Shannon Shafer and I are raffling off these 8 prizes to help fundraise for Addison Shafer for her trip to Orlando for All American Cheer to be in the Thanksgiving Day Parade at Walt Disney!!!
These baskets were donated by an amazing woman and are FULL of so many fall goodies.
Tickets can be purchased by contacting me or Shannon, and we are accepting cash or Venmo (my personal Venmo, not my business one).
Tickets are $5 each, or 5 tickets for $20. All 8 prizes will be drawn for Saturday, November 11th, 2023.

Hey everyone! Just checking in to let you know that holiday appointments are filling up fast for November and December, if you want to make sure you get a spot before the holidays it’s a good idea to schedule a couple grooms in a row. Holiday appointments are very limited and are first come, first served.
On that note, this is the calm before the storm so I’ve gotten a few cancellations here and there for September and October! Hope everyone is doing well, and as always I’m grateful for all of you. ❤️🐾

There is a lot of misinformation being passed around in regards to emergency veterinary care in our valley. Currently, there are only 3 of our local veterinary offices that participate in the on-call list. These 3 clinics rotate this on-call list.

➡️ Riverview Animal Clinic
➡️ Lewiston Veterinary Clinic

The on-call vet is generally taking calls Mon-Saturday until only 9pm. Any emergency calls outside of the local on-call hours are referred to WSU School of Veterinary Medicine at (509) 335-0711.

We know of a local veterinary office that sometimes will take after hours calls for current clients only, but they are not part of the on-call list.

We have a veterinary shortage in our valley. The on-call teams work extraordinarily long hours. Read Dr. Ruff’s comments on the original post for more perspective into how things currently work.

➡️ Be kind and patient towards veterinarians and their staff.

Sharing this again, as I’ve had a few clients bring dogs in with fleas lately. I CANNOT have fleas in my salon now that it’s in my house. I used to have the luxury of being able to set a bug bomb off at the end of the day to make sure everything was covered…. I cannot do that now that my salon is at home. If you don’t want to spend the money on quality flea and tick protection then I will ask you to find another groomer, for the safety of my pets as well as my clients pets.

🚫DO NOT BUY OVER-THE-COUNTER FLEA/TICK PRODUCTS

We spent 90 mins today pulling ticks off a momma and pups. It’s definitely time to talk to your veterinarian about flea and tick prevention. They will know what’s safest for your pet(s).

Avoid cheap products like Hartz. We have personally seen what terrible things these products can do to pets, including seizures. 🐕 🐈‍⬛

GREAT advice for the upcoming holiday. Your pets deserve to be kept safe and as relaxed as possible, and (on the off chance they wander due to fear) even a simple phone number with permanent marker on their collar can help get them home safely.

Don’t wait. Plan ahead. It’s not fair to expect your veterinarians to accommodate your last minute needs. 🎆

Chewy is sending another truck of donations for Idaho Animal Rescue Network!! We’re so excited to be able to be a small part of this, as they will be utilizing our shop space while they sort and distribute everything. Please be patient with us when it comes to dropping off and picking up your puppies… you may need to park out front and walk down if the truck is here during your pups appointments. First day of spring, as it gets warmer we all need to make sure we’re treating our pets. Your pet must be on a preventative medication to come into the salon. I will not risk spreading bugs around to my pets or other clients’ pets. Talk to your vet about what is safe and effective for your dog. Stay away from anything over the counter unless your vet recommends it . 🐾❤️

***Important Announcement***

We are officially accepting cats for grooming! 🐱🐱 Meow!

We have had some wonderful feline clients and would like to offer cat grooming services to all. This will inlcude either a full shave down or lion cut, and nails trimmed.

This being said all cats must come in a carrier and have proof of vaccinations. The appts will be the first appt of the day (unless otherwise discussed) so we can make sure no dog clients upset our feline friends. Also cats dont always enjoy grooming and in some areas on their bodies and we will only do what the cats are comfortable with and allow- this is to ensure the cats safety as well as our groomers.

We are super excited to expand our client list to our feline friends and cant wait to meet them all 🥰

We are ready to offer low-cost and no-cost microchips to our community. To apply for a microchip please go to microchip.idahorescue.org. Please note that we do require a separate application for each animal. Limit 2 per household. The cost will range from $0 - $20. Seniors and Veterans over the age of 65 are always free. This is good only for residents of Nez Perce County and Asotin County and the Nez Perce Reservation.

Happy New Year everyone. As we come into 2023 (and completely say good riddance to 2022 😅)… I’ve got a few updates for everyone.

Out with the old: I’ll be updating everyone’s current client files so drop off will take an extra few minutes. This includes vaccination records, regardless of how long ago you gave me updated records. These can be emailed, texted, or brought into the salon in person. I will no longer be verifying vaccines over the phone with your vet. As a reminder I require proof of Rabies, but I am EXTREMELY strict about distemper/parvo and kennel cough. Your pet should not be in a grooming salon, boarded, daycare, or dog park unless they’re vaccinated for these things. Your vet will not do kennel cough as part of your regular vaccines, you usually have to specially ask for it.

And I’m open Fridays again until late fall! So let me know if you want to get back on the books for fridays. I have a lot of appointments booked already so times are limited.

We are so grateful to everyone for your pet food donations. We want to give you an idea of how much pet food we are going through currently and the donations towards pet food … and we still need more. Transparency is important to us.

$1,257.04 in Chewy donations in the last 30 days.

740lbs of pet food donated directly to our pantries in the last 30 days.

$868 in pet food purchases we have made in the last 30 days.

The reality is, most of these donations have already been distributed or will be distributed this week. The current need for pet food is like nothing we have ever seen before. We are distributing pet food within the LC Valley, the Nez Perce Reservation, parts of Idaho County, and several smaller rural areas nearby.
