This is the final pull into Forresthill up Bath Rd. The decision was made to quit the trip at Forresthill. The donkeys were motoring strong but there were enough equipment wear marks that we decided not to push it any farther. The donkeys just traveled an incredibly rough 69 miles, their integrity is immeasurable!

The Donkey Welfare Symposium was again a very enlightening event for me. As a long-ear enthusiast I feel very fortunate to have such a well-done educating opportunity so close and Iâm honored to be a part of such a unique and âneededâ event.
The lectures were broad on topic and the international issues are to say the least âeye-openingâ.
Coordinators, Eric and Cindy Davis have already announced that there will indeed be a Symposium in 2019. Please try to add this very worthy Donkey affair to your calendar!

Wonât be riding yet this year. At 7 years old, I decided Grady really needs another year to prepare for such a grueling day.
There are 5 mules starting this year, their entry numbers are 70, 103, 110, 151 & 192 if yo want to follow their progress through the day.

Hello all, JoDe with the ride update.
These mules are absolutely awesome!!! We had a great day finishing in the top ten, 7th, 8th & 9th! 50 miles in 6 hours and 40 minuets ride time. This ride had one road block after another, starting with the original ride location being changed at the last minute due to rain! At 7pm the night before leaving my mule pulled a shoe & as my regular shoer lives 90 miles away, I had to find somebody kind enough to tack a shoe on after hours! Big thank you to Hal Irby for being that guy, Iâm lucky he is a mule friendly shoer that lives 3 miles down the road from me! We headed out the next morning early. Just short of Tehachapi Frank Cano blows a wheel off his living quarters trailer. Made a call to Randi Goldsworthy who immediately got on the phone to a gentleman she knows who met us at the exit and was willing to take the trailer to his shop, all we had to do was transfer the mule and gear and leave him to handle the problem, how cool is that!!
We got to ride camp with plenty of time to check in, had an awesome day on the trail! As we were finishing the ride we called Candee Coffee, who lives in town, and asked if she could put up the tired mules for the night so they didnât have to sleep tied to the trailer for a second night, which of course she readily accommodated us! Thank you thank you Candee, our mules are so grateful for your hospitality!!!
The wind blew like a âson-of-a-gunâ all day and it never did get warm, but we had an awesome 50 miles in the company of 3 incredible mules!
