🌱 Did you know summer’s the perfect time to start your fall garden? 🍂
While it’s still a lil warm outside, you can get a head start on these cool-season veggies:
• Carrots 🥕 - Plant these now for a fall harvest!
• Beets 💜 - These colorful roots love the transition from warm to cool.
• Leafy greens 🥬 - Kale, spinach, and lettuce love to be planted late summer.
• Radishes 🔴 - Quick growers perfect for little gardeners.
• Peas 🟢 - Give them a good start for fall snacking.
• Broccoli 🥦 - Plant now to be a good size when the weather gets cools.
Starting these veggies in late summer gives them time to grow before the first frost. They’ll be ready for harvest just as the leaves start to change!

You know the ones I’m talking about - those caterpillars eating on your leaves, the squash bugs taking out your entire squash plant, and don’t even get me started on the mosquitoes! 😩 Well, here’s a few tips: HERBS! 🌿
Companion planting with herbs is like having a built-in pest control system without using any of those harmful pesticides. 🙅🏾♀️ Here are some of my faves:
🌱 Basil - keeps away mosquitoes, flies, and aphids
🌱 Rosemary - cabbage moths, bean beetles, and carrot flies
🌱 Lavender - gives moths, fleas, flies, and mosquitoes
🌱 Mint - ants, aphids, cabbage moths, and flea beetles
🌱 Thyme - cabbage worms, corn earworms, tomato hornworms, or whiteflies
🌱 Dill - aphids, spider mites, squash bugs, and cabbage loopers.
Now, I’m not saying herbs will make your garden 100% bug-free, but trust me, they’ll make a big difference! 💪🏾 So next time you’re planting, don’t forget to plant your herbal friends. 🎉🌿

🥒Pickle Time! 🥒 Today, we turned our homegrown cucumbers into some good ole’ pickles! 😋 Want to make some too? Here's how:🌿 First, we picked a bunch of big, green cucumbers from our backyard garden. 🧂 Next, we made some pickle juice with vinegar, water sugar, and salt.🌱 Then, we filled up jars with cucumbers, jalapeños , peppercorns, onions and fresh dill leaves.🔐 We poured in the pickle juice and closed the jars up tight!⏳ Last step... putting our jars of pickles in the fridge and waiting a few days while they set. Well worth the wait! 🙌🏾Our homemade pickles are gonna taste sooooo good - way better than pickles from the ones from the store! 👩🏽🌾 My momma and I had so much fun making pickles together and can't wait to eat them!!! 😁🥰 If you love pickles like we do, definitely give this recipe a try! #Pickling #Homemade #UrbanFarmer #KidsGardening #DevaSprouts

Don’t let the darkness of the eclipse or the end of the world dampen your gardening spirit! Here are three ways to apocalypse-proof your garden:
1. 🧟♂️ Plant some “zombie-repellent” herbs like garlic and mint around your garden. They’ll keep the undead at bay while your veggies continue to grow! 🧄🌿
2. 🌑 Create a “Doomsday Compost Heap” by mixing in some apocalyptic ingredients like shredded cardboard, food straps and leaves. Your plants will grow stronger than ever! 💀🌱
