Calling all cat owners! Submit your kitty cat for October's pet of the month! We are dedicating "Spooky Month" to our cats. Please comment or private message us on Facebook Messenger to submit your cat for October. Your cat must have an updated exam. Winner for pet of the month can choose from either a free month supply of flea and tick prevention or a free odor eliminator candle. This will be redeemable at our Lake City location only but clients from Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Live Oak can submit photos as well. We will take submissions until September 27th.

Our September Pet of the Month is Luna! She is a 5 month old German Shepard. She loves to snuggle and rough house with her sister Lucy and brother Lester! Her favorite snack is chicken jerky for dogs. Luna's favorite toy is her stuffed toy!

In honor of Black Cat Appreciation Day here are a few that visit us at the office! Black cats have a bad reputation but they are just as sweet and awesome as others. Did you know that black cats have one of the lowest adoption rates at shelters? However in some cultures they are a symbol of luck and fortune! Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Lake City will be closed this coming Monday 08/05/24. We have decided it will be the safest option for our staff, clients, and patients. If you currently have an appointment of Monday we will reach out to you to reschedule for your earliest convenience.
Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Live Oak will be closed until further notice. Live Oak clients can contact our Lake City office by calling us at (386) 752-8899.
We want to let you know that we did not make this decision lightly. After keeping up with updates from NOAA we believe this is the safest and best course of action for everyone. Our Lake City location will resume normal hours on Tuesday 08/06/24. We will post updates about Caring Hands Animal Hospital of Live Oak as we know more in the following days.

Did you know that August 15th is "Check the Chip Day"? If your pet is microchipped make sure the information is current and up to date. If your pet is not microchipped now is the time to do it! Studies have shown that over 70% of pets that are microchipped safely make it home. Help your pet return home safely by getting them microchipped.
Did you know that you can access your patients pet portal through our website? This portal will allow you to make appointments, show you the due dates for you pets wellness needs as well as show you which vaccines your pet has received. If your pet needs a medication refill you can request one on their pet portal as well!
Did you know that August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month? Allergies can effect dogs every day, just like in humans. Florida is a hotspot for allergies (pun intended).

Our first pet of the month is Riley! Riley is a 12 year old dachshund. Riley became paralyzed 7 years ago but that doesn’t stop her from being a rambunctious little lady. Her mom describes her as fiercely loyal to her family but she is definitely a mama’s girl at heart. She may be an older girl but she still loves to cause some trouble. Her favorite activity is stealing cat food and hanging out with her grandparents. Her favorite toy is a pink bone!

If you or someone you know is looking for a new vet for your fur babies we would love to add you to the Caring Hands Animal Hospital family. We are currently giving free rabies vaccinations to any new client. In order for your pet to qualify they have to be at least 12 weeks old. Rabies is a state mandated vaccination for dogs and cats.
Rabies is a virus that is most commonly contracted by getting a bite from an infected animal. Not only is rabies able to infect animals it is a zoonotic disease which means humans can contract rabies as well. This promotion is through our Lake City office only.
