Dear Papash: Little Man is more skidish than Papash, and afraid of people. When we lost Papash we promised to do a better job looking out for the strays with no home. Since the day Papash has passed Little Man has been at our door step almost every day. We're watching over him the way we should have watched over Papash. Getting him vaccinations and fixed will be so much harder since he doesn't have the same innate trust. It makes me so mad at myself for not doing that for Papash. He would have sat through it, never lost that amazing friendliness and trust before and afterwards. Be careful of the kindness you hold back, it may haunt you one day.

Later today I got wet food for Little Man. I also donated to homeless kittens. It made me remember how many times at Pet Smart the question came up do you want to donate to homeless animals and I chose no. It also made me remember that despite us feeding you and loving you, we never took you out of the elements. We talked about getting you an outdoor cat house, so you could come in from the rain, but never got around to it. I have no excuses. We should have done that four years ago. We're going to get one for Little Man so we don't have to fall apart when we finally bring his ashes inside.

We first met Papash in late 2017. We asked if anyone was missing a kitten. He was so friendly we assumed he must belong to someone. Strange, how we assume kindness is something that must be instilled as opposed to being innate. Nobody claimed him so Josie and I started making sure he had food.

Papash was an outdoor cat that followed me home four years ago. We never officially took him in, but we always made sure Papash had food and love. Last week he came home looking like he'd been attacked. His eyes were damaged and his hair matted. As we took him inside we took him to the vet and learned he contracted one of the worst cases of mites the vet had ever seen. The illness ruptured both of his eyes, and he was too sick for us to care for. We both realize if we had given him more than food and love, he would probably still be with us. That's why we're creating this page, to protect the Papash's of the world. The loyal and loving animals with no home. This site is how Papash will watch over those animals like he watched over us.
