Meet Dr. Garcia! She was an Aggie in both undergraduate and veterinary school, graduating magna cm laude and cm laude respectively – WOW. Dr. Garcia then completed an emergency medicine internship under Dr. Laurie Noaker, ACVIM (Veterinary Internal Medicine) in 2012 at VERGI Animal Hospital.

In her free time, she enjoys watching movies and spending her time with her 3 fur-babies – 2 cats and 1 dog.

Unfortunately, 1 in 3 pets will go missing in their lifetime and only 1 in 10 are found (AAHA). July is National Lost Pet Prevention Month and serves as a reminder to put strategies in place to keep your pet safe. Check out our best tips to prevent your pet from going missing.

If your pet does go missing, file a lost animal report with your local police department, post on community social media pages (such as Facebook or Nextdoor), check neighbors’ yards or video doorbell footage, scout local parks, and call animal shelters in your area.

As we enjoy the great outdoors with our pets, it’s crucial to be aware of the venomous snakes that call the Houston-area home. While the copperhead and cottonmouth snake is most commonly seen, there are several other venomous snakes in the area that pet owners should be cautious of.

If your pet is bitten by a snake it's important to stay calm and act quickly. Call your closest vet to see if they have antivenom (EPCT does) and try to minimize the animals movement as much as possible as you get them to veterinary care.

Stay vigilant and keep your pets safe as you both enjoy the beauty of Houston’s natural landscapes. 🐍🐾

Just in time for Hurricane Season: June is - This month serves as a helpful reminder of what to do in case of an emergency or natural disaster.

Here are some basic tips to help you but be sure to create a plan that’s most fitting to your location, family, and pets.

🔸Ensure your pet has identification. Microchipping your pet is the safest bet since collars can come off.

🔸Determine where you can go with your pet in advance if you need to leave your home.

🔸Have everything you need in one place if you need to relocate your pets. Leash, collar or harness, and/or a carrier. It's great if your pet is familiar with these items beforehand.

🔸Always have your pet emergency contacts prepared including your primary veterinarian and your local pet ER: EPCT is located in Magnolia and open 24/7 for all your emergency needs.
