Sometimes, our pets face eye-related challenges that need a specialist’s attention πŸΆπŸ‘οΈ General veterinarians can look at your dog or cats eyes and see they are healthy, but in some cases, your pet may need to see a veterinary ophthalmologist.

Ophthalmology is one of our specialty divisions at MVSE! Meet Dr. Jane Ashley Huey, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVO – our resident ophthalmologist.

Do you have any eye-related questions for Dr. Huey? If so, drop them below and we will try to answer them in our stories!

As cute as these may be, please do NOT give your pets these brightly colored bones and treats.

These can often lead to choking, intestinal blockages, and unwanted trips to the vet.

We saw 12 pets last weekend suffering from heatstroke. Many were only outside a few minutes. Keep any outdoor time brief, supervised, and try to avoid peek temperature hours.

While our temperatures have still been mild compared to what is to come this summer, we have already treated several pets for heat stroke. Watch for signs of your pet overheating, such as, panting and drooling. If you see these signs, move your pet to a cooler area immediately. Frantic panting, extreme salivation, bright-red membranes, and labored breathing are clear warning signs that your dog is overheated. Overheating can happen anywhere, but be especially mindful when you are taking your pet along in the car.

Please, spay and neuter your pets.
