Hard day for momma and baby today! I set up the fence to wean poor Patty Cake. Gayfield’s What A Baby aka Reeses is rapidly gaining weight due to the rich spring grass, so it is time to head to the fat girl pen. Auntie Gypsy and Rita are helping to console sad Patty. When I did evening check, poor Reeses had milk streaming from her udder 😢. Back in my younger days, I would have never thought twice, but now I get pretty emotional. I guess that’s what happens when you’re a mom and you get old and soft-hearted 😂.

It was a beautiful day for working horses 💕
Whiskey (Welsh Stud c**t) even got his first saddling today. Which was not eventful (the way I like it) other than he decided he needed to roll since I rinsed him off before we worked. I went to grab his bridle and when I came back he had rolled and just stared at me with the saddle hanging off his side like this is inconvenient 🤣

Got a nice trail ride in with my friend Marcy and even took out the welsh stud c**t for a pony ride and to see the world. His only hang up was figuring out water crossings, bridges no problem but water was scary…🤣

Yes, I know I have horses at home but I always try to find a local place to ride at when on vaca.

Brian is a good sport and even offered to ride with me but he was not sad when they only had one horse available, since I dropped in last minute to the stable 🤣

Can’t beat the view 💕
We even saw whales jumping and blowing way out in the water while riding on the beach.

The girls are handling the 14🧊 degree weather just fine. I was wondering if Patty Cake would find the milk bar under mommas blanket,but she said “no problem”. Also, there is no need for a blanket on Patty since she has the coat of an Alpaca!

Gypsy and Maggie won first place in their division at the sorting (with a lot of help from Jayden Mitchell holding down the gate)! Gypsy is due with her foal in early May. She is bred to Flying Diamond The Bailef! I am excited about the potential of this foal and kudos to Gypsy for working while pregnant. We are letting her pick her pace and so far she is enjoying the weekly rides and once a month competition! She earned extra cookies, ring-side massage, and a deeply bedded stall 💖

Cornerstone was my demo horse this last weekend, at the northeast Texas Horse Expo. 

We demonstrated how to use, positive reinforcement, and how to introduce scary obstacles to a horse. He was very well, mannered, and brave. I’m so excited to start this guy next year.

Cornerstone will be standing stud at Sulphur River Vet in Commerce next spring.

Gypsy’s baby is coming right along! She is bred to Flying Diamond The Bailef. Rita’s baby is doing well also. Rita is bred to Caddo Texas Twister. Ultrasound is of the heart and lungs of the foal.
