Sleepy Finn is waking up from anesthesia after his neuter surgery. He was bilateral abdominal cryptorchid which means his testicle had not desended and were up in his abdomen. By all appearances and just looking at him most would have assumed he was already neutered. Luckily we confirmed via ultrasound he was not neutered and were able to locate the testicles.. This is why it's so important for vets and shelters to tattoo after surgery

Sweet Reggie is feeling a bit sorry for himself. He decided he was bored and ate a bunch of his human sisters little plastic craft beads. Luckily he pooped out a bunch and we were able to induce emesis and he produced the rest. He is spending the night with us and hopefully will be able to go home tomorrow

Recently, Mission Viejo Animal Services responded to multiple reports about a Canadian Goose in Laguna Hills. The Goose, along with a female and four goslings, had settled in a local creek. The male Goose had fishing line tangled around both legs, impairing his ability to walk, though he could still fly, making rescue attempts challenging. Senior Animal Control Officer Stewart made several efforts to approach and earn the Goose's trust, but the Goose would fly away each time. Eventually, Officer Stewart found the Goose asleep on a grassy area and successfully captured him. The Goose was then taken to a veterinary hospital, where the fishing line was safely removed, and it was confirmed that he had no permanent injuries. With full mobility restored, the Goose was reunited with his family without further issues.

This incident highlights the importance of properly disposing fishing lines. An improperly discarded fishing line can cause serious harm to wildlife, entangling animals and restricting their movement. By ensuring fishing lines are disposed of correctly, we can help protect local wildlife and prevent similar situations in the future. Even when we dispose the fishing line in trash bins it still goes to the landfill which creates the same hazards for wildlife, unless it is cut into small pieces. For more information visit the California Fishing Line Recycling Program at https://dbw.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=29426.

We received a call from ACO Jr Stewart regarding a Goose he had been trying to catch for several weeks. He had fishing wire wrapped around his feet so whole he was able to fly he could not swing. Mr. Goose eluded help for several weeks until today. Officer Stewart was finally able to catch him and brought him in. Dr Kelly was able to safely remove the fishing wire. Officer Stewart was able to return him to the park where he lives with Mrs Goose and 2 goslings. Thanks to Officer Stewart for being diligent and finally catching this beautiful Goose and bringing him in for care

The End of the Eggbert Chronicles... Sadly Eggbert did not hatch. We waited a week longer than the normal 28 day incubation period. He was developing on track based on what we researched, but sadly somewhere along the line he just stopped growing. It is what they call a "quitter egg", when they just stop growing. We're disappointed, we were so excited to meet him.... 😒 πŸ˜”

These 3 kittens, along with mom and 2 other siblings were rescued by New Beginnings for Animals from the Devore Shelter. Mom came with mild upper respiratory symptoms which she quickly passed along to the kittens. They all had what started out as minor uri symptoms but for these 3 they quickly got worse. They were brought to us where they stayed for about 2 weeks. They were so snuffly and congested they were not eating well. Also there eyes were a mess. They were nebulized every 3 hours, as well as getting 2 antibotics and 4 different eye drops every few hours. Now look at them. They have all gained weight, are happy and playful and love kisses. New Beginnings is having their May Match Fundraiser this month, any donations made are matched. Visit www.greatpets.org or PayPal [email protected] or Venmo @-ForAnimals

Beware of foxtails while out and about with your dogs! Foxtails have barbed razor-sharp needles that are dangerous to your dog. If you are exposed, thoroughly inspect the hot spots (ears, nose, eyes, underbelly, between toe pads).

- Foxtails can go up the nose and migrate to the brain.
- Embedded foxtails can cause pain and even death in extreme cases
- Pets with long fur and long ears are especially prone to getting foxtails and they can embed in ear canals quickly.
- Foxtails move in one direction. They dig in, and they do not come out on their own.
- Foxtails love paws and can easily embed between toes.
- Foxtails can dig into any part of the body, and they don't dissolve.
- Foxtails pieces can easily be inhaled & puncture a lung!
