A full-time animal control officer is responsible for enforcing ordinances pertaining to animals and collecting domestic and non-domestic animals during regular working hours. He is also on call 24-hours a day for emergencies that pertain to domestic animals such as dogs and cats. Dog License: State law requires you to license your dog by three months of age. You can pick up a dog license applicat
ion at the municipal building or at the Monroeville Public Works Building. The Shelter is staffed by volunteers and is by Appointment ONLY.. All animals available will be posted on petfinder.com and an application MUST be filed out and approved prior to a meet and greet.. Millie was adopted a week ago. We did not announce it, as I had some reservations if they were going to be a good fit.
She has already went missing.
She went missing from the Whispering Woods plan in Moon Township.
She’s a Merle tripod and easy to spot- but will not be easy to catch. She is very scared of of strangers, and loud/unfamiliar sounds.
Her trust has only been in her foster mom Jaden, and we want any sightings to be reported to Jaden, as she will be the best attempt to successfully capture her before she gets potentially killed on the main road, right outside of the housing plan.

💙🩷This adorable duo came to us in pretty bad shape; they were both infested with fleas, and Tramper was so matted that it was hard to tell what he was. After an amazing transformation at The Dog Stop, we posted them up for adoption, hoping they would go together as a pair. However, we only received individual applications until Chris and Allison applied last-minute and expressed interest in adopting both. They fell in love with Lady and Tramper immediately and decided that night that they wanted to give them a forever home. The dogs were scheduled to be fixed the following week, giving Chris and Allison some time to prepare. When adoption day arrived, they were beyond ready and overjoyed with excitement! Lady and Tramper, now known as Frankie and Ozzie, are doing great in their new home with their loving parents. Thank you, Chris and Allison, for opening your home to not one but two dogs; you are amazing! Happy furever pups!!!💙🩷

💕 Nala, our beautiful girl, found her forever home with Teresa last week! Teresa originally showed interest in Skye but, upon finding out she was unavailable, she asked to meet the next longest resident in the shelter. During the first meet, Teresa brought her mother to see if she approved of Nala. Safe to say, she did, and despite the pouring rain and hot weather, Teresa made multiple visits to spend time with Nala. The day finally arrived where it was time for us to say see you later to our girl who has been with us over a year! Although it was difficult, we couldn't be more happy to send her off. Teresa's mother also wanted to participate in the adoption of her new grand dog!! Teresa, thank you for everything you've done and for loving our girl as much as we do!💕

😻Our sweet Donatello went home with his new mom last night. He had been brought to the shelter after his original owner passed away and was initially scared to come out of his cage. However, one of our volunteers spoke to a doctor about our available animals while at a doctor's appointment, and it turned out the doctor was looking to adopt another cat. It seems some things are meant to be! Donatello found his forever home thanks to that volunteer's conversation with her doctor.😻

🩷🩷Beverly, the adorable dog, won the hearts of many volunteers at the shelter, especially Kelly. Kelly would request to take Beverly for walks whenever she was there, and the two would often be found snuggled up in Beverly's kennel when it was time to go home. Kelly's love for Beverly was so evident that her husband came to meet Beverly when Kelly was out for the day, bringing their dog Rufus along. They got along great, and that evening, Kelly returned home to a surprise waiting for her. Thank you, Kelly, for being an awesome volunteer and an amazing dog momma! Beverly's family is now complete with her new dad, mom, sister, brother (whom she adores), and dog brother Rufus!🩷🩷
🩵🩵Gary, Vicky, their daughter Andrea, and her fiancé Anthony adopted our lovable Frank last week! They originally came to meet Oscar but had an instant connection with Frank. Cupid, their current dog, also hit it off with Frank during their first meet. After a few visits, they decided to proceed with the adoption. 🥁🥁Drum roll….After NINETEEN months in our care, Skye, our longest resident, was the 3rd dog that was adopted last week. Skye has matured into a lovely lady over this time. We selected Skye to attend Community Day as one of the pups, hoping it would be her chance to be adopted. As Stephanie walked by, she stopped to pet and talk to Skye, expressing her interest in meeting her again at the shelter. With no prior experience owning a dog, Stephanie spent several weeks working closely with us to learn about them, she would come 2-3 times a week. When Stephanie was ready to bring her home, we were thrilled. One of the volunteers took Skye to Stephanie's house to help her settle in, and the rest is history. Thank you Stephanie for your dedication and love for our beautiful girl, we’ll miss you!! 🩷🩷🩷
🩷The second of the three adoptions from last weekend was our lovely Foxy Roxy! After being with us for nine months with no interest, Roxy significantly improved socially and assisted with her friend Churro. When Sanja met Roxy, she formed a bond right away and despite an injury Sanja had, she was dedicated and returned several times to spend time with Roxy until she was healed. Finally, the day arrived and Sanja was ready to adopt, and Roxy was overjoyed to go home with her. Sanja has been updating us all week, and it's clear Roxy has found her forever home!!🩷
💙💙Last weekend was a thrilling one - we sent three dogs off to their forever homes, with Churro being one of them! Churro had been with us for seven long months. Bob, one of our volunteers, spent extra time focusing on Churro and it totally paid off!! Matt and Jess met Churro and fell in love - they visited him several times before taking him home to live his best life, complete with couch privileges! We're so happy to have worked with Matt and Jess and wish Churro all the best in his new home!💙💙

🐾🐾Many of you have been worried and asking about Thelma and Louis. Thelma is doing well, she had her follow up appointment at the vets today and when Thelma was gone Louis went on a field trip of his own! Louis received a spa treatment from the Monroeville Dog Stop! A huge thank you to them for reaching out and asking if they can make this boy feel like a million bucks again! As you can see Lou is happier than ever and rocking his new winter coat! ☀️⛅️ Skye ⛅️☀️ This beautiful girl is still searching for her furever! She is currently our longest resident at the shelter. Skye was however adopted and returned a few weeks later. It just wasn’t the right match. We are not complaining though because we love her! We’ve received a few applications on Skye but they’ve all had cats. Unfortunately Skye would do better in a home with NO cats, she’s not a fan!! She is doing better with pair walks with other dogs in the shelter, she definitely likes the male dogs better then the females. She would probably do best though in single dog home. Skye’s around 5-6 years old. Her coat is so soft and her eyes…they are piercing!. We call her our “ Heinz 57” because it looks like she’s mixed with a few breeds. 💙🐾💙Say hello to CHANCE! He’s been a resident at the MAS for a couple months now and is improving every day! When he first arrived his skin was in pretty bad shape. He had patches of missing fur and scabs over his whole body. After a round of antibiotics and medicated baths twice a week, he now looks amazing!! He does very well on leash and is social with all of his dog friends at the shelter. He also enjoys getting baths (thank goodness)! He will be available in a 2 weeks after his follow up appointment.
