The SUNY Morrisville Equine Rehabilitation Center (ERC) offers equipment and rehabilitation techniques to keep healthy horses conditioned and to help injured equine athletes recover, post-injury or post-surgery. One of the very few publicly accessible equine rehabilitation facilities in the Northeast, the ERC is run by skilled, trained, and knowledgeable professionals who have dedicated their live

s to horses. Located on 103 acres of land three miles west of SUNY Morrisville’s campus on Route 20, the multi-million dollar campus addition boasts a 40,000-square-foot riding arena, stabling for 40 horses, and a complete rehabilitation center with state-of-the-art equipment and therapeutic modalities. Equipment and therapeutic modalities include an underwater treadmill, indoor swimming pool, solariums, a cold salt-water spa, laser therapy, and therapeutic ultrasound. The ERC houses the college’s thoroughbred racing program and has made way for a new equine physical rehabilitation option in the existing equine science bachelor degree program, giving students more opportunities to contribute to and find employment in the equine industry. The facility offers the greater equine community of horse owners and trainers a unique level of service that, until recently, was unavailable locally. It also made way for a new equine rehabilitation therapy concentration in the existing equine science bachelor degree program which will provide the Equine industry with graduates who have had training in equine rehabilitation and therapy. In accordance to SUNY policy, the SUNY Morrisville Equine Rehabilitation Center (ERC) "reserves the right to remove posts or comments that are obscene, defamatory, offensive, contain threats of violence, abusive, spam or advertising, or unrelated to the content or information. Boehringer Ingelheim hosted a joint health CE in our treatment room at the rehab center this week. Nine vets from CNY area attended getting the most up to date information BI has to offer on products and joint injections!! Our very own Betty got the benefits of the day and got top of the line care (Betty is the Chestnut). It was a great day! Thank you BI!!
(Oliver the cat made sure to guard all the supplies needed for the day).

Got the privilege to introduce two awesome boys to the pool today. They did a great job and were very brave. Looking forward to their next swim! Thanks to Jessica and Tim McCann for bringing them!!!

Hoping everyone is having a wonderful summer! We have been busy up here at rehab! We are currently working with a few horses at our facility, we are offering on the farm Magnawaving and we are offering pool time for dogs. It's been a great summer so far.

Today we welcomed two new big boys, Abe and Eli, to the Rehab Center for a truck-in appointment for some TLC after a fun and busy weekend. They are 7 year old pulling horses (geldings). Each enjoyed a full body Magnawave treatment and cool bath. These two are magnificent, sweet boys and we are delighted to be able to be part of their care team. Thanks for bringing them to us Jack!!

This summer we will be accepting new clients at the Rehab Center for truck-in appointments!!!

Offering treadmill therapy, cold salt water spa therapy, PEMF sessions and more. Therapeutic ultrasound and laser can be provided with a referral from your veterinarian. Weekend appointments available.

We are also offering swim time for dogs in our pool!!

MD is still here with us at rehab but his new home should be ready shortly. We will keep you posted.

Melvyn and MD update: Both boys have found WONDERFUL homes and I'm so excited for their future lives.
Melvyn is going to be loved by a rehab graduate who has fond memories of him and is super thrilled to have him join her.
MD is going to be hanging with a crew of old timers in a private backyard that help with Equine Assisted Therapies. His major responsibility will be to be lead around cones and became part of energy work. He will be loved on by so many people.
Thank you to everyone who shared the post and said such wonderful things about the boys. They do deserve soft landings and I believe they both have found their place. They will be terribly missed but will be a legend here at the rehab center and forever loved. ♥️♥️♥️

Important News: We have made the difficult decision to rehome our beloved rehab teachers (horses), Melvyn and MD. They are wonderful citizens who have taught many students and deserve now to retire (MD) or semi-retire (Melvyn) to wonderful loving homes.
MD is 21 years young and does have some arthritis though he has not needed treatment for it so far. He is sweet old guy that just wants to live outside like a horse, eat, and be loved on. He would do best turned out with just one other horse.
Melvyn is 16 years young and is broke to ride. He would make a great trail horse. He is also very sweet, well mannered and just needs love and attention. He has a history of possible heaves but he has not shown any breathing issues in quite a while. He is not on any treatment and we do let him live outside most of the time.
These boys are very special to us and we will only allow them to go to the best homes. If they could go together that would be ideal as they are very bonded but we will consider individual homes for the right situation.
