Although founded in 2012, the story of Marlee & Me begins years beforehand. When laboratory animal science student, Katrina Veney, went to a boxer breeder looking for the perfect companion, she noticed a small brindle pup hidden away from the public. The breeder said she was not available due to severe illness and that she did not have long to live. Immediately, Katrina fell in love and knew this

was the perfect dog for her regardless of the boxer's health problems. Years later, she was more than the perfect companion, she was a best friend, an educator, a family member, simply a butterfly. In memory of Marlee, Katrina took her experience within the animal industry to create an organization that will assist other pet owners with basic pet needs, emergency relief, and animal awareness.
