Imagine being a young puppy and you are brought to the shelter where you live in a kennel with a concrete floor and a bed. If you are lucky, you get to get out for 15-20 minutes a day to run and play and feel the grass under your paws. Now imagine doing this for FIVE HUNDRED and THIRTEEN days. This is Sosa’s reality. He has spent his entire puppyhood at the shelter. He just wants someone to love him that he can love back. He wants a home where he can play all the time. He is starting to get kennel stressed and needs out. Might you be the one to open your heart and home to him? He has been on a couple of outings and did amazing and loved every minute of it. He doesn’t require much; just a ball or a stuffy which he loves!
My name is Remy 2 and I am a 4 y/o pitty mix! I came to the shelter on 6/9/23 with 3 of my siblings. We were surrendered in the field to Animal Control . We were in rough shape; covered in fleas and hair missing. They treated us when we got to the shelter. Now my coat is beautiful and shiny. Everyone says I am a total love bug! I would make an awesome cuddle buddy! I just want to be with you and get an occasional belly rub. I am ready to go; I am housetrained, fully vetted, and my adoption fee is only $50! All I need is you! See what the volunteers have to say about me!
Bobbi is our pitty of the week. He has a reduced adoption fee of $50 until Saturday!

Zaleah’s day in the office
Zaleah has lived 772 days out of the last 1140 days at the shelter. That is over half her life. Someone is missing out on a great dog!
This video shows that shelter dogs act very different in a less stressful environment. Zaleah got to spend the day with the shelter manager, Rachel, in her office. In her kennel and on her ONE 10-15 minute a day walk, she is full of energy and people think she is “wild” or “too much”. She is not always the friendliest when other dogs walk by; which leads you to believe she is not dog friendly. Her day in the office proved NONE of this was true. She was calm and laid on her bed. She was friendly, sniffing and wagging her tail, when another dog was outside the gate. PLEASE do not judge a shelter dog by their behavior in their kennel because you are going to miss out on an awesome dog. We all know the saying “the squeaky wheel gets the grease” well they are just trying to get your attention and are saying “please pick me”. Also don’t assume that the dog is the problem if they have been returned; 9.5 times out of 10, it was due to no fault of their own.
Come meet this amazing sweet girl and end her LONG stay at the shelter.

I posted a video of Molly earlier in a foster home(volunteer took her for a few days) and here is a video of her at the shelter after ONE YEAR with staff she sees everyday. There has to be a foster, rescue, adopter, or guardian Angel that will open their heart and home to her. If there was ever a dog that needed rescuing; it’s Molly.
What better way to ride out the hurricane than to cuddle up with this teddy bear!! The shelter is open until 5 and 10-4 tomorrow. His adoption fee is $35 through tomorrow!!
