URGENT CALL TO ACTION - Help us protect Myakka's Magic with just a brief email!

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking public responses by November 1st on the newly proposed Everglades to Gulf Conservation Area. This proposed conservation area encompasses over 4 million acres of habitat in southwest and south-central Florida, including 3 million acres that remain at risk of development.

Importantly, Myakka River State Park and the entire Myakka River Watershed are included in this proposed conservation area (see map). In fact, areas to the north-west of the park are considered by this conservation plan as both high priority for protection AND at high risk from development.

If approved, the USFWS will work with willing landowners to pay for conservation easements on working farms and ranches and to create new wildlife refuges that expand outdoor recreational for the public. Such refuges would greatly benefit our entire region by protecting and restoring watersheds and providing wildlife linkages/corridors which are especially critical for imperiled Florida species, including the Florida Panther.

The Toledo Blade 320 project goes before the City Commission tomorrow night Tuesday the 26th. Meeting starts at 6pm. Please plan on attending and filling out a comment card for agenda item 2023-25, and 2023-26. This is a quasi judicial hearing. Public comment regarding this needs to have people sworn in. So you need to be there in person. If you are not able to make the meeting, you can still leave a general public comment, but it won't be read or heard during the hearing. Any comment will help. Here is the e-comment link. You can also leave a voice mail, which is better. Call 941-429-1032. You can make your comments up until 5pm Tuesday. Thank you all for your help.

North Port Feed Supply will be closing tomorrow Sept 26th at 2:00pm. We will be open normal hours again Wednesday morning.

Estates Neighbors, many are not aware of the ZONING CHANGE concerning Toledo 320. Which is a separate development from Toledo Village and The Garden. This is a request by developers to rezone the wetland at the dead end of Toledo Blade, along Walton Ranch Preserve. Deluxton Homes wants 55 Acres of Industrial Warehousing (which is the equivalent of 6 Braves Stadiums). with an additional 200-plus acres of “High Density” housing to be allowed. Just like the proposed agricultural name change, and 8-foot sidewalk, We have the ability to speak up and speak out with a united voice concerning our neighborhood. Please join us Tuesday September 26 at 6 PM to address the commissioners at City Hall. Let our commissioners know Industrial Warehouses have no place across the street from agricultural acreage homes, or next to the Walton and Orange Hammock. Nor do we want the traffic associated with it or the proposed 845 residences.
