🚨 Important Update on H5N1 Risks 🚨

Also known as also known as Bird Flu or Avian Flu. Despite its name, this virus can easily be transferred to other animals, cats are especially susceptible to contracting it.

With the ongoing H5N1 outbreaks, there have been multiple cases of cats becoming ill with the virus from commercially available raw diets.

This serves as a critical reminder of the risks associated with feeding raw or undercooked animal proteins.

Dr. Loftus, our nutritionist, strongly advises caution and recommends reviewing the AVMA’s position on raw diets, refer to the attached link for more information.

There have been many outbreaks reported already in our wild birds in Massachusetts.

We always recommend keeping your cats as indoor cats, but especially right now it’s critically important to keep your cats inside as H151 can be transmitted, not just through direct contact with sick animals, but also through their droppings.

To help protect your pets, keep them inside and consider cooked, balanced diets that reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses. If you have questions about your pet’s nutrition, give us a call. 🐾❤️

Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Take a few moments to reflect on the power of love to bring change, heal divisions, and guide us toward justice and equality. Dr. King’s words remind us that love is not just an emotion—it’s a force for good, a call to action, and the foundation of a better world.

Let’s honor his legacy by leading with love, compassion, and courage in everything we do. Together, we can make a difference.

🦷 The Importance of Dental Care for Your Pet 🦷

Did you know that your pet’s dental health is just as important as their overall health? Many pet parents overlook dental care, but untreated dental issues can lead to serious problems like infections, tooth loss, and even heart disease.

Why Early Action Matters:

Prevent Pain: Dental problems can be painful for pets. Regular check-ups and cleanings help catch issues like gum disease or broken teeth before they become painful or severe.

Avoid Expensive Treatments: Addressing dental issues early can prevent the need for more costly and invasive procedures later on.

Support Overall Health: Poor dental hygiene can lead to bacteria entering the bloodstream, potentially affecting your pet’s heart, liver, and kidneys.

Start a dental care routine today and give your furry friend the gift of a healthy smile!

🚨 Planning for Veterinary Emergencies 🚨

When it comes to our pets, emergencies can happen when we least expect them. Whether it’s an injury, sudden illness, or another urgent situation, being prepared can make all the difference in getting your pet the care they need—fast.

Why Planning Ahead Matters:

Vet Services Fill Up Quickly: Many veterinary clinics in our area can get booked up fast, especially in emergencies. Having a plan in place ensures you won’t waste precious time figuring out where to go.

Know Your Nearest Emergency Vets: Identify the closest emergency vet clinics and have their contact information readily available. Save the details in your phone, and consider a backup option in case your first choice is full.

Create an Emergency Fund: Unexpected vet bills can be expensive. Setting aside money specifically for emergencies can help you act quickly without financial stress.

Keep Your Pet’s Records Handy: Having up-to-date medical records easily accessible can help the vet provide the best possible care in an emergency.

First Aid Knowledge: Learn basic pet first aid, like how to safely transport an injured pet or perform CPR, to stabilize your pet while you get to the vet.

Quick Action Saves Lives:

Being prepared for emergencies can make a critical difference in your pet’s health and well-being. A little planning now can help ensure you’re ready to act quickly when every minute counts.

“We had our first visit for Otis. The staff were friendly, patient, kind, and understanding of our concerns for our dog. They were also very informative, explaining in detail the medical plan they felt would be best for Otis.

They were upfront and honest about the cost, showing transparency and allowing us to make an informed decision about what we were willing to do cost-wise. At no time did we feel pressured or guilty.

We ultimately decided to move forward with the treatment plan, and I feel confident that we have found an internal medicine practice and veterinarian Dr. Loftus that will be good for our boy Otis. Thank you for the warm welcome as a new patient and for your dedication to Otis's well-being. I am grateful for the recommendation that led us to your practice.” -S.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this great review!
