“Rocky” is a 10-year-old husky available for adoption from Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter. He is a chill senior boy that does well with other dogs and kids. He wants nothing more than to spend his days in a comfy bed and sitting at your feet. Not to mention he has the PRETTIEST coat and blue eyes with brown speckles mixed throughout. He does like to explore the typical husky sport of fence jumping if left alone so would do well with a buddy in the yard with him. If this sounds like your kind of dog give us a call today to schedule an appointment to meet her.

All dogs have a $110 adoption fee which includes spay/neuter, vaccines, dewormer, microchipped and flea-treated. If you do not have base access give us a call so we can schedule a time for you to come on. 760-725-8120.

“Luna” is an about 4-5 years old husky available for adoption from Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter. She is your typical husky with lots of energy and sass to give. She does well with other male dogs and with older kids. Luna is very active and likes to be around her people for belly scratches. She loves playing with tennis balls and receiving her much coveted treats. If this sounds like your kind of dog give us a call today to schedule an appointment to meet her.All dogs have a $110 adoption fee which includes spay/neuter, vaccines, dewormer, microchipped and flea-treated. Adoptable Frankie from The Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter is a big, handsome 2-year-old Shepherd mix. He is a sweet energetic boy that would do well with another active friendly dog. He has the long legs and the body build that would make him a good running or hiking partner. He does love water so maybe a little kiddie pool for the sweet guy? He does well with older/taller kids who are big enough to not get bonked-over in the running and playing he loves to do. He will sit when asked and immediately give you a paw like the real sweetheart he is. If this sounds like your kind of dog give us a call today to arrange a time to come meet him and spend some time in the play yard getting acquainted. 760-725-8120
Even if you do not have regular, normal access to the base, please DO give us a call and we will work with you to arrange a meeting with Frankie. It is very doable, and he would love to meet you.
The public is welcome to come adopt the patriotic pets at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter! All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, flea-treated, and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Adoption fee $110.

Nova Moo (or Moo-Moo as well like to call her), was brought to Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter as a stray. She is almost 5 years old and looks very much like a cow with her unique black and white pattern. Moo-Moo is shy and would need time and patience to warm up to a new environment, and feel confident that she is loved and will be a real member of her new family. She is more open around women, but takes more time to be comfortable around men. She does need to be adopted off-base due to being a Pit Bull mix which is a restricted breed on base (and part cow, which is also not allowed on base unfortunately). She is a very polite girl even though she has a shy nature, and would possibly make an amazing running partner for the right person. Moo-Moo wants so badly to please people, but doesn't quite know how yet. Give her the time and she'll be that best friend you've been looking for. Call us today to make an appointment to meet her! 760-725-8120.

Anyone looking for a goofy girl with floppy ears? Leyla is an 8-month-old German Shepherd mix brought to Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter through no fault of her own. She is large girl that likes to bounce around, still learning to use her oversized paws. She is shy at first, but quickly warms up and tries to coax you into playing with her. She would need some leash work as she is still young and is still learning that its okay when her people leave for work and that they will come back. She does well with other polite friendly dogs and would do well in an active household. If this sounds like the gal for you, give us a call at 760-725-8120 to schedule an appointment to meet her!

“Charlie” is a 1-year old shepherd mix that was surrendered to Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter through no fault of her own. She is the sweetest girl that does well with people and dogs alike. Charlie is very active so a running or hiking buddy would be preferred. For a shepherd, she’s actually pretty quiet! She will bark some but no nearly as much as you’d expect from the breed. She does pull some but she’s young and hasn’t had much leash work done. But Charlie is a very smart girl and should pick that up quickly. If she sounds like your kind of girl, give us a call today to schedule an appointment to meet her!

All pets come spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated and up to date on vaccines. Adoption fee for dogs is $110. If you do not currently have access to base give us a call and we can arrange to have you brought on to meet the pet. 760-725-8120

Not sure why but “Frankie” is still available for adoption. He is located at Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter. Frankie is a 2-year-old shepherd mix that was brought in due to his previous owner moving out of area. He is an active boy that LOVES water and would do well as a running/hiking buddy. Young kids are not recommended due to him playing a little rougher and jumping up on people. But he is young and with training that should go away. Frankie does well with other friendly dogs and knows how to sit and shake. He knows no stranger danger and greets everyone with a big face lick and wiggly body. Call us today to schedule an appointment to meet him!

The public is welcome to come adopt pets from the base. All pets come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated and microchipped. Adoption fee is $110 for dogs and $85 for cats. Please visit our Petfinder page to see a more complete bio of each pet. Call us at 760-725-8120 to schedule.

If he sounds like a match for you, please call us at 760-725-8120 to schedule an appointment to meet him.

WHERE MY LAZY PEOPLE AT?! “Seya” is an 11 year old chihuahua mix that is about as lazy as you can get. She chooses to spend her days basking in the sun, laying on a cozy squishy bed. Also did I mention that she hates going for walks? Refuses to actually. You put a leash on her and she hits the brakes. Seya is a bit of a diva. She gets along with other friendly dogs that don’t try to climb all over her but puts them in their place if they try. She does have a history of seizures but is managed by taking twice a day Phenobarbital in her food. (Costs about $15/month, so pretty cheap). Since taking the meds, she’s had no seizures! Seya is looking for a home that is ready to offer her constant head scratches and somebody that will hold her and carry her around like the queen she is. If she sounds like a match for you, please call us at 760-725-8120 to schedule an appointment to meet him.

"Coco Chanel" is a beautiful 11-year-old senior spayed female with lots of love to give. She is dignified, yet affectionate, and loves to show her loyal and gentle nature. She is loyal and enjoys the company of her family. Coco Chanel does not look or act her age at all and would do well with other dogs her size. We can't really say anything negative about this sweetheart. Please give us a call at 760-725-8120 to schedule an appointment to meet this sweet girl.

Adopt a Patriotic Pet!

Met Severus from The Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter!

Severus is a young, large tuxedo cat that has a charming, cuddly personality. He has these big beautiful eyes that he uses to watch and follow what you’re doing. If there was an award for “Most Wonderful Whiskers,” he would win. His long white whiskers are perfect with his tuxedo. When you open his cage, he gets right up and comes to greet you and socialize, and ask for pets. He is a BIG boy, not chunky big, just large, so if a bigger feline is a match for you, definitely come meet him. He’d love the extra attention.
The public is welcome to come adopt the patriotic pets at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter! All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, flea-treated, and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Give us a call and we’ll make arrangements for you to come meet Severus. 760-725-8120

Handsome T-Bone from Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter is a big brindle boy, Cane Corso we think, about 1 year old. He came to the shelter as a stray dog and nobody came to find him. He gets along with friendly, polite, female dogs, and can be shy when meeting new people, but he does warm up. Treats do help with getting acquainted! He has recently been started on leash work and has learned very quickly throughout that scary process. He would do well with someone that has the patience and time to help bring him out of his shell and build his confidence, and he should be in a family with the financial resources to properly feed a big dog too. If you're in the camp of "Bigger is Better" when it comes to dogs, then he just might be your boy!

Oh. My. Goodness. This darling, knee-high pitopotamus is Meatloaf, and he appears to be about 7 years old. He came to the shelter as a stray dog. All he needs is a derby hat and a cigar to be a poster dog dude! He likes a tasty treat as a reward. He has a gentle mouth when taking the treats from you too. He has gotten along well with other polite, friendly dogs he's met here at the shelter, and he goes out in the play yard to romp with a few buddies. Like most of the smoosh-face dogs, breathing can be a challenge when it is hot, or when he is over-active, and he does snore.
Meatloaf needs to have a home off base because he is one of the bully breeds, and they are not allowed to live on base. If you are dog savvy and know and love the bully buddies, then maybe he's a match for your family. Give us a call and we will arrange for you to meet him.

Adoption Fee: $50. Please call ahead at 760-725-8120 to ensure the pet is still at the shelter.

Two Beautiful Akitas at Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter are Up for Adoption!

FREYA
Freya is a gorgeous Akita, about 15 – 16 months old, and enjoys playing and chasing-around with her housemate (Onna) out in the play yard. She likes playing chase with you, getting a tummy rub, and playing tug. She is house-trained, and she knows the commands sit, down, and paw, and likes a tasty treat as a reward. Although she came to the shelter with Onna, they do not need to be adopted together. They are not good with other dogs in their space, so no off-leash areas or dog parks. If you really know and love the Akita breed, and are big-dog savvy, then give a call and make a plan to come meet her. She's dreaming of a new loving home. Maybe with you?

Here's a great site that lists both the off and on-leash dog beaches 🏖 in San Diego.

Cardiff Beach is an on-leash beach near Oceanside that boasts a really great stretch of sand (especially in low tide) in a beautiful sea-side town.

Get out there if you're able and take your doggo 🐕 🚶‍♀️🚶with you for a stroll. Always be prepared no matter where you go to potentially pay for parking if you're new to an area. 🤑 🚗

A local's guide to dog-friendly beaches in San Diego County. Where to go (legally) for on-leash and off-leash fun, rules, and more tips.

FEATURED FRIDAY: This amazing hunkey monkey is looking for his ride or die, his BFF, his soul-hooman. Cash is no joke a really amazing dog. And yes, you hear that all the time about many dogs waiting for forever homes. BUUTTT, on the record (as a volunteer) it's not often I meet a dog in care that tugs on my heartstrings and makes me wish I had more room in my home. Cash is THAT dog. Though he plays well with other dogs, Cash'll likely do best as an only fur-kid so I'm not an ideal candidate ... are you? Cash needs patience + guidance + love from a committed and kind hearted person. He's the kind of dog I envision on the cover of an REI advertisement enjoying adventures, camping and hiking with his co-pilot, but really all he needs is simple good 'ole fashion walks, love, treats, training and a warm bed. If you or someone you know sounds like a good fit for Cash, please come on in or pass his information along. To all you pet parents who love to walk your doggos at the beach, here's a low tide calendar for you. Please be aware that dogs are not allowed at the beaches on base, but there are some dog friendly beaches off-base. This weekend we have a low tide in the afternoon, not quite at sunset but just before sunset. Still a great time to get out there and take your BFF for a stroll don't you think? Have fun!

Every state and county has its own laws and regulations when it comes to pets. If you're new to Camp Pendleton you probably didn't know some of these very important rules on base. We are here to answer questions, educate and help our base residents stay out of trouble 😉
Here are some base rules you may not have known:

- All cats and dogs must be licensed on base with Domestic Animal Control.
- Dogs, cats, hamsters, small birds and fish are the only animals allowed on base.
- Rottweilers, Pitbulls (any breed that falls into the Pitbull category,) and Canine-wolf hybrids are not allowed on base.
- All homes are limited to two pets per home (only dogs and cats count towards the pet limit.)
- No animals (cats, or dogs) are allowed to roam free, or off-leash at any time. Dogs are only allowed to be off-leash in designated dog parks and your fenced yard, or patio.
- Dogs cannot be tied-up, or tethered, while unnatended.
- All pets must have access to water at all times!
- Dogs must have shelter from the elements while outside.
- Breeding of pets is strictly prohibited on base! Accidental, or otherwise. If your pet is not spayed, or neutered, then you know the risk!

If you have any questions, you are welcome to reach out to us at 760-725-8120.
