Katie and I set out to chase storms in eastern New Mexico in search of tornadoes. It was a successful day! Then, on our way to Lubbock, TX, not 10 minutes after we left the last storm of the day, we came across 3 dogs standing in the middle of the road in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. We came to a complete stop! I rolled down my window and was immediately greeted with lots of licks!

Seconds later a yellow lab took control of the situation by jumping into the driver’s seat! However, he didn’t want to leave his sister behind. Then came running a puppy Great Pyrenees! All 3 pups hopped into the back of our vehicle and we continued to Lubbock, TX to seek help.

Unfortunately, it was too late in the evening and every animal shelter/rescue/vet we called was closed. Once in Lubbock, we picked up a bunch of essentials at a store for the pups. I was able to secure a room at the pet-friendly Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lubbock Medical Center.

The pups quickly fell asleep in the comfort and safety of our beautiful hotel room! After a night’s rest (and a 4:30am walk), we set out to find someone that could help us with our situation. Thankfully we found the perfect place!!!

We got plenty of help from the loving staff at Bozeman Animal Clinic! They were able to find chips in the 2 yellow labs! Unfortunately, the call to the registered owner went unanswered. After a few vaccination shots for the Great Pyrenees and a free NexGard treat for each of the pups, we headed to for a much needed bath!

Just as we were heading out the door, the Bozeman Animal Clinic called us to share happy news! The yellow labs’ owner called! Their pups were stolen 7 months ago! We then drove the 8 hours to Denver, CO to reunite the labs with their true owners!

Ciders Sanctuary’s a nonprofit that will be incorporated in the coming weeks. If you have a huge heart for pets/animals, I encourage you to follow on our journey as we build a sanctuary where pets and people share one heart! ❤️
