Limited staff today! Sammy is trying his best to learn, but he's not there yet. Due to unforseen circumstances, we have extremely limited staff today. We decided that we could stay open with our doctors and technicians seeing patients, but we will not be answering phones or responding to e-mails in our normal timely fashion. Messages will be checked and returned on Monday. The alternative is to close for the day, and we do not do that unless there are no options! Thank you for your understanding.

🔥It’s gonna be a hot one this week! (take this advice for any hot day of the year too!)

‼️Per our local weather forecast- Heat index values in the upper 90s on Monday and as high as
104 Tuesday through Thursday.

If able to, keeps pets inside, don’t go for walks during the hottest parts of the day (this will ensure your safety and the pets), allow them to have more water than usual as they can become quickly dry and dehydrated.

HEAT STROKE 🥵‼️
Animals can suffer heat stroke in warmer weather. Dogs with short noses or snouts, like the boxer or bulldog, are especially prone to heat stroke, along with overweight pets, those with extremely thick fur coat or any pet with upper respiratory problems such as laryngeal paralysis or collapsing trachea.
Some of the signs of heat stroke in your pet are:
Heavy panting and unable to calm down, even when lying down
Brick red gum color
Fast pulse rate
Unable to get up
Fever: Higher than 102.5

The first thing us pet parents should do is make sure your pets are comfortable during this period of time.

Our driveway is being repaired! Please be patient as the paving company is milling, repairing and resurfacing our driveway. The infamous pothole at the entrance will be gone! Work will begin Tuesday May 14th. You will be able to park and to drive on it at this point. We will keep you posted!

Oh My Wrinkles! 🐶
Today is Bulldogs are beautiful day!

📢In honor of this day, meet Frankie! Frankie is a staff pup of ours owned by Madi who has an extra soft spot for these wrinkled faces.

Frankie (English Bulldog) is a rescue from an amish puppy mill in Ohio who was found with a hard and soft cleft palate. This condition was repaired a couple of months ago with the help of a cleft palate rescue and Frankie is now living a ”normal” mischievous life.

‼️Celebrate today by loving on your bulldogs and showing us and Madi your babies wrinkled faces that only a mother could love😆

This year, the third week in April is Dog Bite Prevention week!

‼️ To reduce the number of these injuries, we want to utilize this week to educate both adults and children on bite prevention and responsible dog ownership. It's important to remember that any dog can bite!

🐶Even if your babies love people or other pets, if they are put under enough pressure or stress, things can become overwhelming and they may snap.
If you see your pup stressed out, let them be, go slow to get them to relax or give them a toy to desensitize them/relax them.

April is Heartworm Awareness month!❤️🌸

‼️Prevention and annual testing is key when it comes to heartworm disease!

❤️‍🩹Heartworm disease has been increasing in numbers of dogs and cats in the US every year. The disease is transmitted by mosquitoes and is most prevalent in warm and humid climates.

❤️‍🩹Pets infected with heartworm can develop damage to their blood vessels, lungs and heart. Symptoms include coughing, difficulty breathing, decreased ability to exercise and weakness.

March is National Pet Poison Prevention month! Veterinarians are urging pet owners to become aware of the pet poisons that are circulating around the house and yard!

‼️ Watch out for common household plants that can be toxic to dogs and cats such as Azalea, Lilies, Ivy, Mistletoe and Poinsettia
‼️ Keep garbage bags behind closed doors. Trash bins can contain pet toxins such as cigarette butts, coffee grounds, moldy foods and bones.
‼️ Hang up your purse! Pets love to dig through purses and backpacks, which can contain pet poisons such as medications, ci******es or sugar free gum.
