Keno is part of the pack we are calling "The Shy Dogs." They came to us a few months ago very scared of humans and we have been working with them to feel safe. There is no aggression, just very timid and jittery. We have found that friendly dogs can pair with a shy dog and give them the confidence they need. It's beautiful to watch happen.
Keno is coming around but needs a person with patience to earn his trust. A friendly dog in the home would help progress the shyness but it is not necessary. If you have the time and heart for a shy dog we gave 4 up for adoption to choose from. Leah, Donnie, Mykie, and Keno.

Sweet cats! The two gray cats came in together and they are both males, stunning beautiful green eyes and larger in size. Both are friendly although Chester takes the lead 🙂
The two black cats also came in together. Little Kitty is a female and Tommy is a male also 5 years old. These two have golden yellow eyes and are also friendly. We currently have them all together and they are enjoying each others company while waiting for new homes.

Just in time for Halloween, a dog named Munster has found himself at the shelter in need of a new home. 😄 (We can't make this stuff up if we tried). Munster is house trained and will not go in his kennel. He's very serious about this rule. He's also serious about large balls and toys. He's a fan of car rides and he pulls a little on the leash but is generally a good walker.
We think he's a little strong for young kids and he needs a no cat home. Big kids and other dogs are fine. Muster is listed as a Shepard mix and is 5 years old. He's confident, engaging, communicates well and follows directives. All around good guy!

Val has been adopted at record speed! Warning! It's heart warming! ❤️
LOTS of amazing things have been happening at the Paradise Animal Shelter but one that has impressed us all is this girl... Val! Here's why Val is our Most Valuable Player:
Val and her sister Mel were picked up as strays by a kind citizen and brought to the shelter. When no one came ... Mel was quickly adopted leaving Val to wait her turn. In the meantime we have had a litter of 5 very timid and scared dogs come in. So scared that any act of just moving one inch closer to a volunteer has been a win.
Animal Control staff had the idea to rotate them with Val who has been teaching them how to confident. Last week Keno was paired with Val and we saw his confidence grow leaps and bounds. Turns out Val has had a greater mission of socializing this pack.
Val is friendly, knows basic commands and is an all around great dog and we would love to see her find a home! We know now that we can socialize the scared dogs with friendly dogs. We know there is no shortage of friendly dogs and would like Val to meet her new person or family!

We’re thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of our upcoming expansion of the Paradise Animal Shelter! Our beloved shelter is getting a major upgrade to better serve the animals and families of Paradise.

Highlights of the Expansion:
• More than doubling the capacity for the cat population.
• Improved outdoor access and exercise areas for both cats and dogs.
• A meet and greet room for people to interact with potential adoptees.
• Separate cat and dog isolation and quarantine areas for better care and safety.
• Enhanced public reception and staff work areas to improve overall service.
• Much-needed exam, treatment, and bathing rooms for animal care.
• An indoor storage room for shelter supplies, ensuring everything is organized and accessible.

Bark Twain is his name! He's up for adoption! 🐶
Bark Twain is a handsome guy who loves to play and is good with other dogs. We think he's too strong for young kids but older kids would be good.
He is a pit bull mix (could be cattle dog and boxer but we really don't know) and is approx 2 years old. His personality is confident and friendly. He will need some training but loves to learn! If you would like to meet Bark Twain please come on by!

Both adopted ❤️
Val and Mel came into the shelter when they were found roaming the hot pavement in Paradise. A kind woman driving by saw them and just couldn't leave them to the heat or the street. They waited for their owner but nobody came and so we feel they were most likely dumped.
These girls are still young estimated at 2 years old and both are sweet in nature. They know basic commands, are good with other dogs and kids. Mel is very calm and mild and Val has more pep to her step. They can be adopted separately or together but of course we'd love to see them go to a home together.

Rooster is an amazing boy! This guy is very well-rounded at just 9months. He is medium size approx 40lbs. He is already house broken and knows sit and shake. He is a family dog and has been around kids. He walks well on a leash and enjoys hiking and loves water activity! Rooster has a beautiful red color and is a boarder collie/lab mix.

Joined a local rescue :)
Rooster was a surrender due to housing issues and he has brought a lot of joy to volunteers and other dogs at the shelter. We are hoping to find him a loving fun home where he can continue to be the amazing dog he is.

Fiddle is a beautiful black kitten who is approximately three months old. His owner surrendered him to the shelter, and he has been here about a month. He has a calm, gentle personality and would be a good fit with most households. You can meet Fiddle at the Paradise Animal Shelter at 925 American Way, open Tuesday-Saturday, from 11:00-3:00.

Adopted ❤️ This is Brook, a sweet 13-week-old kitten with beautiful long hair. She was found as a stray at the Shadowbrook Apartments and has been at the shelter for about 3 weeks. You can meet Brook at the Paradise Animal Shelter, located at 925 American Way, open Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00-3:00. Come give Brook some attention and love!

Adopted ❤️ This handsome guy is Bon Jovi and he might be the perfect addition to your home 🙂
Bon Jovi is good with other cats and has an easy going nature. He thinks wet cat food is over rated and prefers kibble. He likes to be groomed. He brings the calm to most situations except one ... he hates the car and will scream the entire ride. 😂
Bon Jovi is 2.5 years old and is neutered and ready to go to his new home.

WE CONTINUE TO BE PARADISE STRONG. Yes this is sad but the point is progress and love please keep comments encouraging and kind. Thats what this pack needs most 🥰 we can't do it alone it takes a tribe.

There's a pack of 7 month old pups at the shelter who are very scared and timid (which is a nice way to say feral). We are sharing them and will continue too so you can see their progress and adoptions. ❤️

Found and reported as living on a lot in unacceptable conditions, these pups will now have a chance at a loving home. If someone hadn't called or cared we don't know what their fate would have been. As you can see all of them prefer to hide as this was their survival mode on the lot too, taking cover under a shed.

Slowly and carefully we are getting them out to the play yard (they have to be carried) to interact with kind and gentle volunteers. These dogs need socializing, confidence, training, trust and guidance. So far Leah has shown good progress and Casey knows his name.

These dogs are "adoptable" but need patient loving homes and socializing with friendly calm dogs. Our shelter is a no kill shelter with caring staff and volunteers who will put in time and effort until homes are found. 🥰

Today at the shelter....

Local Artist Daniel Moncayo revealed a pop up mural he created for our play yard! This colorful piece captures the play and heart of both adopted and available animals who are waiting for that fateful day.
We can't wait to see Daniel's next creation and appreciate his incredible contribution to PASH!

Zim is 11months and a hound/cattle dog mix! You get the best of both worlds with Zim. Zim is sweet and still puppy-ish a big baby who loves affection and play. He still needs training but knows some basic commands. Zim is hound large weighing approx 85lbs.
We think Zim would be great with kids although his size might be a challenge for young ones. Cats are possible with the right training and Zim is very trainable. Other dogs he's great with:)
Zim is happy, eager to please and a middle of the pack guy with a friendly disposition.

This ball of chocolate goodness is Wynona who is already getting the nickname Nona at the the shelter. She's an 8 month old pup. Wynona is medium sized approx 45lbs and is listed as a lab mix.
We think she'd be good with kids and cats and she likes other dogs too. She plays with Gray (a gray pit bull also up for adoption ) and the two of them have a blast!
Wynona loves water and is hoping to visit creeks or at least have a doggie pool in the yard.
Wynona will need some training but is smart and quick and already knows some commands.
