One of the biggest misconceptions in dog training I think is that most think they need to spend hours a day training and if they can’t get in an hour long training session they just don’t train. When the reality is if you are trying to train for an hour straight you are probably doing more harm than good. Chances are your dog will burn out and just not want to train anymore. You will get far more results and lasting results if you have short sessions spaced out during your day. A training session can be 2 min long. This not only keeps the dog wanting more but it also keeps training in your daily life making is just how you live with your dog. Creating a constant learning environment for you and your dog bringing you a life time of fun and success.

You over the years of working with families I have found that almost no one needs a “trainer” yes I said it. Most just need a road map to follow to help them open communication between them and their dog. What a lot of people label as behavioral problems are just miscommunication. So in my efforts to help more people I have created an online school that is affordable and accessible. There is no wait time to start. There is no worry to reschedule due to weather. When your goal is to have real life results you must like real life. Dog and kids will stimulate each other that is just how it is. Teaching them both how to behave around each other is key. There is a time and a place to have high energy. Giving your dog the ability to ignore the crazy high energy is a skill everyone with kids should do with their dogs.

If you want a behavior to stop you need to replace it with a behavior that you want. Take into consideration your dogs breed and what are their natural behaviors some dogs are more prone to chase / herd so asking them to ignore this desire will take lots of repeated sessions teaching the dog to ignore this desire because the reward you have is much higher. Patents and repetition are your best friend here.

Did you know most #dogs don’t have #behavior issues they have energy issues. Meaning if you aren’t meeting your dogs energy needs they will put that energy in other places. Most of the time they will put there energy to work in ways we don’t won’t. So besides your #training are you also meeting the energy need for your dog? I don’t think #leashtraining is #obedience I would call it more of a #lifesafety skill. Teach young #pups how to be polite to not just people but to other dogs is extremely important. A dog that learns how to ignore stimulation in public is a dog that can go more places with their humans. You should strive for a dog that has the ability to ignore people and dogs when they are on a #leash

Having a well trained dog can be life changing. Training starts with learning how to communicate with each other. An open line of communication opens up the learning channels for you and your dog and everyone wins.
