We strive for a perfect mixture of old world Dutch blood and KFPS approved American sport conformation to bring the best of both worlds, Sport and Boroque,

Obsidian Friesians is dedicated to preservation of the breed by researching and breeding a few very select, Horses. Research into linear scoring, Low coefficients and low family scores is a must. Stud are chosen for our mares to accentuate the racial type and conformation of the breed as well as their well known love of work. No specific natural training style is used on our horses, but each trai

ning program is tailored to each individual horses needs to provide a good base training for the age of the sale horse. Adult horses are all trained to saddle and cart.

QUE PASA !!!!!

The final ride. Its so hard to say goodby. How do you let go of an animal that you called friend so so many years. Sweet, caring, gentle. A horse that looked into your eyes with so much expression and kindness. Thank you to all who helped try to save him the three days, hard day, he decided it was time to leave us and go home. All I can imagine is that his trainer, Carlos, and him are dancing through the tall grass with heads held high, looking at the horizon, no longer in pain. Filled with joy!!!!!.

Que Pasa has been surrogate to our weanlings over the years. With no babies this year he has appointed himself king Angus. He now watches over the calves. They follow him around the field if he gets to far away.

Today is a bitter sweet Friesian Friday. Illias has been sold and his new owner is coming to pick him up this morning. So sad he is going but so happy he is going to a great new owner who has big plans for him. Goodby to our little buddy. Thank you Katie for giving him a new loving home.

Illias was wearing his big boy pants this morning. I had my big training saddle on him once before about 6 months ago. He did very well. Stood ground tied while I saddled and cinched. Worked like a pro. Of course Que Pasa was there for guidance. Illias is 15.3 at the moment and a First Premium gelding. He is for sale.

Illias work out this morning. He did real good. Getting him back in the swing of things and start his conditioning for next falls Keuring. Braid him up for the summer and let his mane and tail grow out more and thicken up. Summers are tough on Friesian hair in the Sonora desert. These guys are out doors most of the time.

Our beautiful Stella getting a workout this morning. Stella is a second premium Star mare. We are taking Illias for his 3 year old Keuring this fall and will probably get Stella in shape and take her back for a first premium try.

Stella got some love this morning. A friend of ours, Bethany, came over to ride. First time since having her baby. Her and Stella got along great. She will be coming over to ride more often. Of course Stella loves it. She got a spa day also.

A little Illias Saturday. Sorry, I missed Friesian Friday. Third time under long lines.

And after 15 minutes learning the basics. He stand beautifully and waits for command.

Illias got his training crupper today. No issues 😁. We will work that for a few weeks and introduce the britchen.

Someone got to big for his 1 year old britches. Had a nice bath and was jogging around the pasture all pretty. So I decided to take a video, he decided to attack. He has been testosterone overloaded since he dropped a testicle. Not sure if the drop caused it but I have to treat him like Stallion now. Unpredictable 🤨 we had a hierarchy discussion right after.
