Congratulations to RDOC member, Pat Speas and her Scottish terrier, Pickles on competing in the 8th AKC Agility Invitational and being featured on the AKC website.

Pat Speas and her 11-year-old Scottish Terrier 'Pickles' are on their eighth round of the AKC Agility Invitationals, now in its 20th year.

RDOC is holding two separate AKC Container and Buried seminars on January 4, with Silke Satzinger. Novice and Advanced will be held 9-Noon and Excellent and Masters from12:30-3:30 p.m. Working spots for the Novice and Advanced levels are full, however, we do have 7 audit spots open. For the Excellent and Masters level, we have 4 working spots open and 9 audit spots. Working spots are $85 and audit are $50. To register, visit our website at https://www.rdoc.org/training.

We’re thrilled to announce our FIRST EVER AKC Scent Work Trial for Buried and Container classes! 🎉

📅 Entries Open: November 17 at 8 AM
📍 Trial Dates: January 17 & 18, 2026
🕐 Two trials per day with two judges!

We’ll be offering all levels Novice, Advanced, Excellent, and Master, giving exhibitors the opportunity to earn an AKC Scent Work title over the weekend! 🏅

✨ Beautiful title rosettes will be awarded to celebrate your hard-earned achievements!

🐾 Puppy 2 Class – Registration Opens Tomorrow! 🐾

Is your puppy growing up fast and ready for the next step? Our Puppy 2 Class opens for registration tomorrow, November 11 at 7:00 AM!

📅 Class starts: Monday, November 25 at 12:15 PM
🐶 Age range: 4 months to 10 months

This fun and supportive class is perfect for:
✨ Graduates of Puppy Class ready to strengthen their skills, or
✨ Puppies over 4 months joining training for the first time!

We’ll help you and your dog work together through the “teenage” phase. Building confidence, focus, and teamwork while polishing important skills like:
✅ Sit
✅ Down
✅ Come
✅ Loose leash walking

You’ll also get guidance on:
💬 Socialization with humans and other dogs
🧘 Learning how to settle
🩺 Accepting handling for care and maintenance

We’ll use positive reinforcement techniques and a variety of training tools including cones, platforms, flat collars, clickers, and tasty treats! 🍖

Our Basic Obedience Class is opening for registration on November 3rd! 🎉

This class is perfect for dogs over six months old, whether you’re a brand new dog owner or just want to brush up on some training skills. It’s great for young pups, newly adopted dogs, or older dogs who could use a little refresher.

Here’s what we’ll cover together:
✨ Teaching polite behaviors at home and out in public
🦴 On-leash skills like sit, down, stay, come when called, and loose-leash walking
🐕 Building a solid foundation for future goals such as competition sports, CGC, or therapy dog training

We are happy to announce a club member's foundation, Jill Woith congratulations!

John Randolph Foundation is honored to announce the creation of the Jill Cramer Woith Animal Care Endowed Scholarship Fund, established to support students pursuing higher education with a focus on the health and welfare of animals. 🐾

Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Hopewell, Jill graduated from Hopewell High School before building a life devoted to both education and her deep love for animals. After earning degrees from John Tyler Community College and Mary Baldwin College, both Summa Cum Laude, Jill spent over 30 years passionately involved in the care, training, and showing of her beloved Borzoi dogs.

This scholarship will carry forward her lifelong dedication to learning and animal care by supporting students pursuing veterinary medicine, animal science, or related fields.

Scholarship applications open on November 15th. Save the date! 🗓️
