Humane Society, Animal League for Life of Madison County, KY The Humane Society A.L.L. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), no-kill organization composed of all volunteers.

We are devoted to the prevention of animal cruelty and the betterment of all animals in our community. Our Board of Directors meets monthly to insure these goals are met. Our group is focused on providing our community with affordable spaying and neutering services via our Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic. Our No-Kill Adoption Program is a foster-home based rescue network utilizing volunteers to keep p

ets safe until they are permanently adopted. We do NOT have a traditional shelter and therefore cannot accept animals without an appointment. We do have an adoption center where many of our animals are showcased for adoption and it is open on Saturdays between 12-5pm We are located at 128-C Big Hill Avenue, Richmond, KY. We also support and promote the humane sterilization of feral cats through TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Return). We do not provide traditional animal control services, do not employ animal control officers, and should not be confused with the county animal shelter. We are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Peta, the ASPCA, or any other organization. These are all large organizations that address animal welfare issues on a national level. If you donate to those organizations, that is all well and good, but your donation to them will not support the Humane Society Animal League for Life.

Remember Marla with the ruptured eyeball? As they say, when it rains, it pours. Unfortunately another tiny kitten from the same location was found with very poor eyes as well. We are pretty sure this is Marla’s sibling. She is coming in to us today for help. We are hoping she won’t lose both of her eyes. We will do our best and at least the sisters will be reunited. Donations towards these kittens’ vet care is so deeply appreciated.

🙏 We are reaching out for a little help from our friends with, not one, but two, very special kittens (angels really) in need. The first little gray girl, now named Marla, is only 4 weeks old and she was found in the Poosey Ridge area of Richmond with a severely ruptured eyeball. She was spitty and hissy as the poor girl couldn’t see a thing. Yesterday, she underwent surgery to remove her right eye. We are trying to save her left eye at this point with eye drops in hopes that she will retain some vision. Marla’s eye removal surgery was quoted to us at $500 (updated bill was $600). She made it through surgery and we plan to pick her up today where she will start her recovery in a foster home with lots of love and care. 💕

The second kitten, a 6 week old Siamese mix we have named, Kashmir, was found screaming hungrily in the parking lot of Ace Hardware in Richmond. A Good Samaritan scooped her up and reached out to us for help as something was very wrong. A veterinary exam revealed she was emaciated, anemic, her liver was bruised, and she had a huge 3 inch long inguinal bulging hernia caused by some kind of trauma. That means her intestines were essentially only held in place by her skin! To add insult to injury, she had a big bot fly larvae imbedded in her neck below her ear. She underwent surgery where her hernia was repaired and the bot fly larvae was removed. Gradually, her anemia improved as well as her bruised liver. Her stitches were just removed and with a little more time she is expected to make a full recovery. Her vet bill so far is right at $1,000.

We would be ever so grateful for donations towards these two bills which extended above and beyond normal care.

🐾😽 His name is Brimsley and he wants to be your right hand man. This little guy will follow you around until you give him all the lovins!! He's super sweet, four months old, neutered, and has a unique pattern of salt n pepper that has grown into his coat. We are not sure if that is temp or permanent, but he's fabulous either way. You can find more information on Brimsley and all our other adoptable pets on our website: https://humanesocietyall.com/adoptable_animals/

🐱🐱🐱VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 🐱🐱🐱

We are seeking motivated volunteers for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning Cat Care Shifts (approximately 8:30 or 9:00 AM until about 11:00 AM).

Duties include feeding cats, giving ocular or oral medication to cats, cleaning kennels and scooping litter boxes (requires bending), socializing cats, taking pictures of cats for social media and petfinder, doing laundry, and performing general cleaning of the facility like sweeping and mopping, all while being watched and judged by the resident CATS!!

We are seeking hands on individuals for shift leadership or co-shift leadership who can be there at a set time and day each week to eventually help lead and train other volunteers during your shift. Interested individuals should be reliable and at least 18 years of age with their own transportation. Interested individuals 16 years of age or older can also volunteer, but cannot take on a shift leader position. Please reach out to us via messenger with your general availability and phone number and hopefully we can get you started volunteering with the HSALL. With your help, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of homeless pets!
