Slow and Steady Wins the Recovery Race! 🐢🐾

After surgery, your pet’s body needs rest 🛌 to recover. While they may be eager to jump back into zoomies 🐕💨, it’s important to limit their movement for the next two weeks ⏳. This means no running, jumping, or climbing stairs—even if they try to convince you otherwise! 🥺

Set up a comfortable space 🛋️ for your pet to relax and keep their outdoor time limited to leash walks 🐕. Engaging them with quiet activities like puzzle toys 🧩 or gentle snuggles 🫂 can help distract them from all the action they’re missing.

It might be tough to see them a little restless now 🥹, but rest assured, this quiet time is setting them up for a lifetime of health and happiness. Slow and steady wins the race 🏁, after all! 💕🐾

Emergency Reminder

Accidents happen, and sometimes our curious pets get into things they shouldn’t—like chocolate. If this happens, it’s important to stay calm and act quickly. Contact your veterinarian or the nearest emergency clinic right away.

Even small amounts of chocolate can be harmful, depending on your pet’s size and the type of chocolate. Symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, or restlessness can escalate to more serious conditions like seizures. Time is critical, so don’t hesitate to seek help.

Our pets depend on us to keep them safe. Let’s do everything we can to protect their health and happiness!

🎃 Happy Howl-o-ween from Thrive Pet Healthcare- Broadway Hospital ! 🐾

Halloween is all about treats and tricks, but let’s make sure it’s a safe celebration for everyone – humans and pets alike! Here are some tips to keep your furry friends safe and your holiday full of fun:

👻 No Tricks with Treats! Keep the candy out of paw’s reach – chocolate and sweeteners like xylitol can be dangerous for pets.

🎃 Costumes with Care: Make sure your pet’s costume is comfortable and doesn’t restrict their movement, vision, or breathing. If they’re happier without it, a festive collar or bandana is a perfect alternative!

🕯️ Decor with Caution: Curious noses + candles or cords = possible accidents! Opt for battery-operated candles in your jack-o’-lanterns to keep things spooky and safe.

🍬 Stranger Danger: Some pets may be spooked by all the new faces in costumes. Consider setting up a cozy, quiet space for them to retreat to during trick-or-treat time. Making sure your pets microchip information is also up to date is very important in case our furry friends accidentally run out of the house.

🐾✨ Success Story Spotlight: Meet Rosa! ✨🐾

We recently had the pleasure of helping Rosa, a sweet 5-year-old Chihuahua, who came to us in an emergency, actively seizing. 💔 Our team jumped into action to stabilize her, and after some time in our hospital, she’s now home, happy, and starting her journey on seizure medication! 🌟

Rosa’s mom and her brother couldn’t be happier to have their girl back, safe and sound! 💖🐶 We’re so grateful to be a part of Rosa’s recovery and to see her back in her family’s arms.

Dr. Coull and Monica got to meet one of the cutest, coolest patients—a leopard gecko! 🦎💚 These little reptiles may be small, but they sure are packed with personality and unique features! Did you know leopard geckos are known for their ability to shed their skin regularly, and their spotted patterns make them a real standout! 🌟 Plus, they store fat in their tails for when food is scarce—talk about *survival mode* activated! 😮💪

Kidney (or renal) disease is very common in dogs and cats, and it may be reversible or permanent based on underlying causes. The disease could be a result of age-related changes to the kidneys, acute injury or toxin ingestion, congenital defects present from birth, or in rare cases, a side effect of some medications. To prevent kidney disease or slow its progression, it's vital to stay regular with wellness visits so that together, we can monitor renal levels with blood work and urinalysis and catch any changes ASAP.

🐾 Meet Twiggy, the brave German Shepherd! 🐾

Twiggy came to us as a stray last year and tested positive for heartworms*. After a year of dedicated treatment and care, we're thrilled to share that she was officially cleared for her spay surgery! 🎉

🐕 Twiggy is estimated to be around 5-7 years old. She also has a unique look with one ear standing tall and the other adorably folded over, likely from a past hematoma. Here she is with TA Monica, ready to start the next chapter of her journey. ❤️
