If you've ever worked with me, or heard me speak for that matter, you'll know that I'm ridiculously passionate about our pets' health... and even more so about how their care effects their behavior...

Well when I found out there was an entire certification program on veterinary care centered around what is best behaviorally and emotionally for the animal... well... you can see how that turned out! 🤣

Super excited to add all this amazing info to our toolbox to help more pets, their owners, and our vets and vet staff have the best relationship possible for the benefits of our pets!

Until further notice we are suspending in person appointments. I am by no means panicking, but also choosing to error on the side of caution and safety for both the humans and the canines we care about. We all likely know someone who is immune compromised, even if we aren’t aware of it, and I feel this decision is to try to be proactive in protecting our loved ones. As well as continuing our support of the first responders by doing our duty of supporting social distancing to try to prevent resource overwhelm. Please bear with me as this situation unfolds, as to what will come after this weekend.

We will be offering phone and video consultations to continue to support our current clients and anyone reaching out for help with their pup as we are dealing with this outbreak.

We will also be releasing some projects we’ve had in the works shortly. Let’s enjoy this extra time home with our pups.

Please stay calm. Be prepared. And be sure to prepare for your pups as well.

So Mom says I need to apologize because I’ve taken up all her time the past month... so Sorry!...

So I’ve pretty much fallen off the face of the earth if you’ve been trying to get ahold of me the past 6 weeks or so, and here’s why. 6 weeks ago my parents dogs’ had some medical emergencies that kept me busy. Just when I thought things would get back to normal, this kid suddenly got a “bump” on his wrist during a training session.

A visit to our vet meant x-rays of his wrist and being that he was already going in back for xrays and he’s a young shepherd, I asked that his hips get xrayed too just for my peace of mind. Not because he was showing any symptoms. Man did that backfire. The vet comes back with his hip x-rays saying they’re the worst he’s ever seen and he’s gonna need hip replacements. Mind you I went in for a wrist bump and came out with needing somewhere around 30k in surgeries.

So... we went on the medical offensive and have been to /consulted with 9 or so specialists in the last 4 weeks up and down the coast. After all the appointments, one thing is clear, based on this kids xrays he shouldn’t really be able to walk without pain. But he’s running and jumping and showing little to no signs of pain day to day. And we have begun pre-hab conditioning to hopefully hold off on surgery as long as possible.

One of the specialists also thinks he might have a bone chip fracture in his wrist (which if you know my history you’ll know how ironic that injury is as it’s what put me in a wheelchair for 8+ months a few years back)

The other large piece to this is that Wolf was (still is for now) training to be my service dog. And this diagnosis is likely a career ender. But I’m going to remain optimistic as I can for now that I will do everything I can to help him through this and continue his work until he tells me he can’t anymore.

So I apologize entirely if I haven’t gotten back to you timely recently. Getting him the best care possible has taken all my time and the repercussions of his diagnosis have been a huge emotional challenge to work through. And we’re still waiting to hear if this is something his insurance will cover.

Not to mention we’ve had other pups in and out of surgery the past few weeks as well.

Please be patient I will get back to everyone hopefully by this week. And stay tuned as I’m going to spin this diagnosis as a chance to educate others and the public about canine hip dysplasia and the real life reality of what living with this diagnosis looks like for a pup!

Doing Drop Ins is one of my favorite things. It’s one of the only times I really get to work one on one with the dog.

Loki is a special boy with some serious trust issues with people and touch. So we’re working on consent and choice with him.
