Deaf Pet Awareness Week is the last week in September. The goal of the week is to raise awareness of the challenges faced by deaf pets and their owners. Deaf pets can be trained to understand hand signals, just like people can be trained to understand sign language. This allows deaf pets to communicate with their owners and to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

The third week in September is dedicated to Adopting Less Adoptable Pets. This special week is designed to help people find loving homes for pets that are considered to be less adoptable. There are many reasons why a pet might be deemed less adoptable, but that doesn't mean they aren't just as deserving of a loving home as any other pet.

Could you open your heart and home to a special pet? Reach out to the Santa Cruz SPCA or the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter to help!

Did you know August 30th is Holistic Pet Day? Acupuncture is an amazing holistic treatment option that can help your pet live a longer, healthier, and happier life. Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of conditions in pets, including allergies, arthritis, digestive problems, and more. It can also be used to help pets recover from surgery or an injury.

Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to help your pet achieve balance in its body. It stimulates certain nerves using very small needles, which increases blood flow to promote local healing, inactivates certain painful nerve signals, and releases internal opioids in the brain to help relieve pain. If you're looking for a natural way to help your pet, acupuncture is definitely worth considering.

If you're local to us, check out Cruz Veterinary Acupuncture if you're interested in an home option!

It's almost time to get Back to School! πŸŽπŸ“

It's been a long time since your pet has had to spend the whole day alone, and it can be really stressful for them. Remember that they've had a lot of time to spend with their families, so they'll need time to adjust to being alone again. Make sure to plan for schedule changes by slowly adjusting your pet's schedule too!

Here are some tips:
* Gradually increase the amount of time you spend away from home.
* Leave them with toys and treats to keep them occupied.
* Make sure they have plenty of food and water.
* If possible, hire a pet sitter or dog walker to check in on them during the day.

By following these tips, you can help your pet adjust to the back-to-school routine and make sure they stay happy and healthy.

πŸ’‰It's Immunization Awareness Month. πŸ’‰

Just like with humans, vaccinations are important in pets. Getting your pets vaccinated will protect them from preventable, life-threatening diseases like distemper, rabies, and feline leukemia.

If you have questions about your pet's vaccinations or think they might be overdue for a booster, talk to your vet.

It's ! πŸ• Let's celebrate the incredible work that these furry friends do for us. Dogs provide assistance in so many situations, like helping people who are blind or visually impaired, comforting those with anxiety, and even alerting people to medical emergencies. They are an invaluable part of our lives, and we should be grateful for their service.

A friendly reminder: If you see a dog in a vest, that means they are on duty and should not be pet or distracted. Please respect their work and give them the space they need to do their job effectively. Thank you! πŸ™
