I've had decades of experience working with animals, including my first dog walking job when I was eight years old. I've worked as a veterinary assistant and boarding kennel supervisor. I have a lot of patience and love for special needs pets, including the timid, shy ones, or ones needing medical care like sub-cue fluids. I'm experienced with dogs (all sizes & many breeds), cats, birds, rabbits,

and even some rodents. Animals enrich my life-- they are my friends, so I treat them with the best care, like a good friend does, going out of my way to make sure they feel safe and loved. I give them a lot of focused attention, so that they can look forward to our visits instead of mourning the absence of their people. My vet experience also helps me keep an eye out for anything unusual so I can recommend a trip to the vet when it's called for, sometimes catching things before they become big health risks & big expenses. Plus, I'm a Licensed Massage Practitioner currently studying small animal massage, so cats & dogs adore my practice work!

It’s baby bird season. I’ve been seeing multiple posts about people who thought they’d found a sick or injured bird, only to find out later it’s a fledgling.

You don’t need to or want to mess with fledgling birds!! They don’t need help, they’re just learning to bird. And their parents will help them out as needed.

Make sure before you step in to help, that help is actually what’s called for. (This article is based in NYC but applies most everywhere.)

If you find a young bird without fully-formed feathers, it is a hatchling or nestling and should be returned to its nest, if possible. Learn more about how to tell the difference here.
