We had some fun holiday activities here at Equessense to celebrate the 4th of July! Steven loved searching for flags in the woods. The challenge was grabbing the flag from our volunteer Martha and handing it to Ashli on the other side. Activities like this are great for horse therapy because they stimulate bilateral coordination and cognitive function. By engaging both sides of the body and brain, Steven strengthens neural pathways, improving his motor skills and spatial awareness. Way to go, Steven!! 🎇🐴

To add a fun twist to the game, Martha put a flag in her hair! Steven definitely let us know that’s not where it belongs 😂 See his reaction in the last photo!

Hi everyone! We are on the lookout for an Abetta all-around lightweight synthetic saddle (or something very similar) with a 16” or 17” seat and a 7” gullet, specifically one that will fit our sweet Izzy comfortably.

If you or someone you know has an Abetta or a similar lightweight saddle in good used condition that you’re willing to donate or sell at a low price, we’d be incredibly grateful! Your generosity will directly support our equine therapy program and make a big difference in the lives of those we help. We can also provide a tax write-off slip for your donation.

Today, we are thrilled to give a huge shoutout to our newest rider, DJ! Over the past few months, DJ has been diligently working with our volunteer Ashli and our faithful old friend Poncho. Together, they’ve been learning all about horses, from saddling basics to building the confidence needed for that first ride.

Recently, we knew DJ was ready to get in the saddle, and look at how amazing he did! DJ was all smiles as he learned to do stretches, hold the reins, and understand the basics of horsemanship. Through equine therapy, he’s discovered so much joy and gained invaluable skills. We’re so proud of his progress and excited to see where this journey takes him. 🐴❤️

Elisha was so excited to see her best friend Cloudy! We did our stretches and enjoyed a leisurely ride around the new place. I think Cloudy was thrilled to have her favorite girl back in the saddle. 🐴💕

Gavin’s first time at the new place was a huge success! He was thrilled to see his beloved horse, Izzy, and was especially excited to spend time with Faith, his favorite volunteer. To keep things familiar, we did our stretches and played his favorite ring toss game. 😊❤️

We’re a little late to post this, but we just had to share the awesome pictures from the birthday party we threw for our amazing rider, Destiny, a couple of months ago. The day was filled with joy as she celebrated with all her favorite volunteers and her special friend, Poncho. Everyone was all smiles! 💕

Hello everyone!

We’ve been pretty quiet on our page over the past couple of months, but it’s all been for a great reason. We are thrilled to officially announce that Equessense has moved to a new location in Seguin!

We are loving our new home and are excited for this new beginning. We have resumed sessions and are incredibly grateful to our wonderful families for their support and willingness to join us on this new journey.

In the coming months, we will have spots opening for new riders and volunteers. We appreciate your patience and continued support. A huge thank you to our amazing team of volunteers for their hard work in making this move possible!

Steven’s ride was a success with our dedicated volunteers, Jodi and Martha! 🌟 We incorporated Steven’s goals into the ride, focusing on making eye contact with trail markers. Equine therapy is a powerful tool for achieving specific objectives, such as improving eye contact and sensory engagement. In the spirit of his goals, we also worked on Steven’s willingness to touch and help put away his tack at the end of the session. 🐴💖

This morning was freezing, especially with the wild winds making it feel even colder. We couldn't hold our usual sessions because it was too chilly for our riders, but kudos to our staff who faced the cold to take care of farm chores.
