MORE INFO:
(Age: 1Y 1M)
(She does have some energy but nothing crazy)

Fairuza has blossomed while in Foster. Her prior history of leash biting and difficulties in the shelter have completely disappeared. Fairuza is house trained and sits at the door to easily be leashed to go outside. She sleeps in her crate every night and will head in there when she’s ready to go to bed. On walks Fairuza does not pull and is enjoyable to take out. She does not resource guard and she loves to play tug with her rope (would only recommend rope toys with her). When we leave her alone in the house she sleeps and is not destructive. Fairuza would be fine being left alone while someone goes to work. She does not acknowledge or even wake up when people walk in the door. We would recommend taking things slow with her because she does not appreciate fast movements or feeling trapped. She will show when she is nervous and will come to you when she is ready. By giving her space she has now shown her love and will give lots of kisses and will allow belly rubs when she opens up. She will give appropriate warnings when she needs space. Fairuza rarely barks, but will notify you if she is uncomfortable. We recommend NO KIDS, NO CATS, and a relatively calm environment. Fairuza has had a few interactions with other dogs and seems fine and does not pull towards them on walks. She enjoys her time with people and alone and she sleeps in her crate in a seperate room. She has no issue meeting new people or anyone coming into the home.

NOTES ON JERRY:

Jerry may look like an older man but he is NOT. Jerry is fully of energy, loves to play, and loves all people. Jerry always make staff members smile. he also knows basic commands!

26-JUN-22 - Observed - 06/26/22 08:57 Per volunteer: Jerry (A2202303) leashed easily and walked close today on the way to the play yard. He was very friendly and attentive toward a female senior in the next yard on the way to the back. They were allowed to visit through the fence; both retaining a loose posture and gently snuffling noses at the fence. Once in the yard, Jerry chased toys and briefly played tug; then wanted to solicit pets and play in the pool. We went to the garden where Jerry explored, still preferring to stay close. He did well on his basic commands. Once back in the yard, Jerry headed back to the pool; then leaned on me for pets to ensure we both were cooled off. He walked close back to his kennel.

04-JUN-22 - Interact - 06/04/22 16:01 Jerry came up towards the front of the kennel and allowed leashing. Did well with both potential adopters (adult male and female) and allowed all petting. Had loose body posture throughout interaction. Was able to place back into his kennel without any issues. MS

20-MAY-22 - Observed - Per Volunteer - Jerry (A2202303) was easy to leash, walking to the back with mild pulling. We first walked the parking lot; where Jerry enjoyed going side to side sniffing everything he could; while coming back for pets. Once in the garden, Jerry ran the yard, rolled in the grass and climbed the rocks with a big doggy smile. He would frequently come to me for pets all over and gently taking treats. Once in the play yard, he chased a few toys, mostly wanting to play in the pool or run on the ramps. He leaned in often for pets and, when I sat down, either putting his head in my lap or reaching up to give me sloppy doggy kisses. He was a very affectionate, playful dog that enjoyed being close. He walked well back to his kennel.

NOTES ON THE GREAT HAMBINO:

He is a tough guy to leash, but once in the yard his personality comes out. He loves to play fetch and run around the yard. He is a rough player with other dogs in playgroup!

16-JUN-22 - Interact - 06/16/22 15:40 He allowed staff to clip leash him and he followed verbal promptings on leash. Once in the play yard he began leash climbing and pulling on the leash like tug-of-war. He maintained high energy on his meet and greet and allowed petting. He was more focused on the leash than treats. He returned to his kennel where staff used treats to get him to drop the leash.

14-JUN-22 - Behavior - 06/14/22 17:23 JS was able to step in the kennel with The Great Hambino and leash him after distracted him with a treat. JS had to clip a chain leash on the dog because of his leash biting issues in the kennel. Once out in the yard, he was very relaxed and loose body language. He did very well with other female dogs, he still needs to meet male dogs. after a good session, JS was able to return The Great Hambino with no issues.

NOTES ON STYLE:

He is a strong guy! He loves to play and go in the pool. Style is okay with other dogs, but he would be best as a solo guy. He has a big personality.

21-JUN-22 - Interact - 06/21/22 17:15 Per volunteer: Style was very excited to come out of his kennel and was difficult to leash due to his jumping. He pulled heavily on the way to the yard, but sprinted once inside. He continued to run around and did not show much interest in affection. He did spend most of his time watching the dog in the adjacent yard. He did get into the pool to drink and cool off.

28-APR-22 - Interact - 04/28/22 Staff is able to leash and walk Style to the yard, while he fence fights each dog inside their kennel. Once Style entered the yard, he quickly lunged toward the adult male citizen while growling and mouthing toward his hands. He did this motion a few times as staff held him back to avoid contact. Staff pulled him back each time he jumped toward the citizen, and he would become loose and calm, while wagging his tail. Wellness stepped in after a few minutes, and started using treats to correct his mouthy behaviors. Style would get over-stimulated and start yapping and spinning whenever he smelled other dogs passing. He shows a high energy the whole time and seemingly fixates on males hands. * He also gets hyped up when being pet on his rear.* After getting him to sit with treats after several minutes, staff walked Style back to his kennel without issues.

22-APR-22 - Interact - 04/22/22 14:41 Style allowed staff member to leash and remove from kennel without any issues. Observed that Style tends to veer towards the other barking dogs. Once in yard, he started to sniff around and he walked up towards the (2) adult citizens to seek attention. He allowed petting and handling from both the citizens and handler. Was able to place back into kennel without any issues.

NOTES ON AIDONEUS:

Aidoneus is easy to leash and loves to play in the yard. He isn't a huge fan of lots of affection, but he does love to run and play with toys in the yard. He does have puppy-like behaviors that require someone who is committed to training him. He has had two bite incidents, both being extremely minor. His foster states, "Aidoneus was great with the large male dog in the home. He is good on a leash, but will pull on occasion. If given the oppertunity, he will try and door dart. He loves sleeping in bed."

13-JUN-22 - Behavior - 06/13/22 17:04 Aidoneus was eager to come out of his kennel. Aidoneus has a tendancy to dart out of the kennel and gets overly excited when he sees people. Once leashed he tends to dart and pull and then panics on the leash. The panic may lead to leash climbing, biting, or flopping on the ground. Staff should use light pressure when walking him on the leash and stop walking when he displays one of his leash issues. Once in the yard Aidoneus ran around grabing toys and just zooming aroudnd the yard. Staff did not notice and jumping or nipping at the handler in the yard. Aidoneus does get overly excited when being pet and will become mouthy and roll on his back and rabbit kick. On return to the kennel he had no issues. -

07-JUN-22 - Interact - 05/14/22 14:37 Aidoneus came up towards staff member and rolled on his back. Observed that Aidoneus became avoidant of the leash. Once staff member got down on ground with him and started rubbing his head to distract him, he allowed leashing. Once in the yard, he became excited and walked towards the potential adopter (adult male) to seek attention. He allowed all petting from staff member as well as potential adopter. Was able to place back into kennel and unleash without any issues.

03-MAY-22 - Behavior - 05/03/22 17:47 Aidoneus comes out with a lot of energy from the kennel. JS was able to return Aidoneus to the kennel without any issues.

Amoka loves to play in the yard!

19-JUN-22 - Observed - Per volunteer: Amoka (A2218964) was easy to leash and remove from kennel. He walked with mild pulling to the play yard, ignoring other dogs. He was only mildly interested in toys, preferring to get attention and playfully engage with myself and the other volunteer. He listened well to basic commands and was very treat motivated. He had no issue climbing steps or crossing the ramp. Once in the garden, he enjoyed exploring the yard, playing tug, chasing a thrown rope toy and playing chase with my fellow volunteer. He easily gave up toys and took treats gently. He was easy to leash and return to his kennel after a brief cool down walk in the parking lot.

16-JUN-22 - Interact - 06/16/22 16:29 Staff was able to leash Amoka easily in kennel, once out of kennel Amoka attempted to leash climb/bite but staff was able to redirect Amoka away from the leash. Once in the yard Amoka greeted the citizens (two adults one male one female and two children under 10 boy and girl). Amoka allowed petting from all citizens and staff.Amoka remained calm around kids who became excited in the yard and were running around. Amoka stayed close to stay staff. Amoka took treats gently from staff and attempted to nibble on leash so staff removed leash. Amoka was returned to kennel. KB

16-JUN-22 - Interact - 06/16/22 16:40 Staff was able to leash Amoka easily, once in yard Amoka sniffed and explored before greeting citizen. Amoka allowed petting from citizen and staff and was very calm and relaxed. Another staff member passed by with a dog and Amoka attempted to jump the 4 foot fence (recommend adopter having a 6 foot fence). Staff returned Amoka to kennel easily. KB
