Why do Morgans park out?
I get this question all the time. Having a Morgan stretch their legs out helps show the confirmation to the best advantage. By having them set their hind legs back, it helps flatten their croup. Stretching the legs forward can give more slope to the shoulder. One must be careful because to much angle might not flatter the horse.
The other reason is that by parking the horse out you help the horse stand still. It's hard for a horse to take off or move around in a parked position. This is especially important for driving horses or english horses. By parking the horse, you help ground them to stay still.

If any of our riders at MTC wants to enroll in the AMHA Open Competition Program or the Morgan & Me program, let us know.
The OCP rewards riders for showing & the M&M program rewards riders that spend hours with morgan horses. YOU DO NOT NEED TO OWN A MORGAN for these programs. Any showing or hours spent with a morgan count as long as you're signed up!

Moriah Training Center is a full care boarding facility located just 3 miles west of Tonganoxie KS off paved roads. The barn is conveniently located between Lawrence & KCK. We offer pasture board at $200/month & stall board at $400/month. Facilities include lighted indoor arena, outdoor arena, round pen, wash rack with hot water, trailer parking, multiple tack rooms, heater/AC lounge with bathroom & kitchenette, & more. MTC also hosts a full time trainer with an active lesson program.

We do allow haul-ins for those needing an indoor space. The indoor arena is full enclosed with lights & mirrors.

Moriah Training Center in Tonganoxie KS is looking for a reliable, hard worker to join our team. Duties include feeding, turnout, & stall cleaning Monday-Friday from 7AM to about 1pm. Experience a plus but we will train. Starting pay is $9/hr. Possibilities to ride for the right person. Horses are gentle & easy to work with. It's chilly & windy outside but the barn is a nice, cozy 50 degrees. Don't forget that we allow haul ins. $10/horse. The barn "closes" before 9pm.
Don't let the Winter weather keep you from your saddle time. Ride in our lighted indoor! Just clean up after yourself, turn out the lights & close up when you leave.
