If your pet is lost, please file a lost report with us here: https://www.hhhstopeka.org/about-us/lostpet/ (We will not discuss adoptions on this page – please check the main Helping Hands Humane Society page or www.hhhstopeka.org/adopt/adoptable-pets to view pets up for adoption.) If your pet is lost, please visit our shelter immediately with ID: 5720 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604 (corner
of 21st and Belle). If you can’t come immediately, call 785-233-7325 and ask for Admissions Lost & Found to file a lost report over the phone. You can file one online at www.hhhstopeka.org/aboutus/lostpet, but please call us immediately after submitting your form to confirm we received it. We recommend coming to our facility in person every other day to check in with our Admissions team and view pictures of new stray animals who have come in. We intake many animals every day, and one of them could be your pet. Nobody is better at identifying your pet than YOU! We cannot tell you with certainty whether your pet is here over the phone. HHHS is required by state law to hold any found animal for three days. After this three day holding period the animal will begin a process of medical and behavioral examinations that will help us determine if the best outcome for the animal is to go up for adoption, be transferred to a rescue, go into a foster home, or, in rare cases, be euthanized (only if serious medical issues exist or there are issues of aggression). Our Admissions Counselors do their best to keep this page updated with photos of lost pets entering the shelter, but we cannot guarantee that all stray animals are represented here. We have left out further details such as s*x and age to help ensure verification of ownership. We cannot guarantee that any of the pets you see here will go up for adoption because they might be reclaimed, transferred to another organization, etc. Please do feel free to share these posts in local lost and found groups, on your personal page, or to tag people in the comments if you think you know who the owner is. The owner must come to the shelter with ID to reclaim their pet; it’s a good idea to call first for details on reclaim fees, proof of ownership, etc. Please call 785-233-7325 or email [email protected] with questions. We understand that losing a pet can be a very stressful experience. For additional information about our Admissions Lost & Found processes visit www.hhhstopeka.org/lostpet
