Join our Volunteer Team for Fall Session!! We are seeking new volunteers to join as side-walkers, horse leaders, and barn help for the upcoming Fall session (September 3rd – December 14th). We especially need WEEK DAY VOLUNTEERS to assist with lessons. Next Volunteer Orientation (mandatory for all new volunteers) is August 28th from 5-7 PM. 🐎
What you can expect:
🌱 An orientation to explain all aspects of the role, safety protocols, and lesson format, as well as what other tasks and projects volunteers may assist with at the facility
🌱 Being able to contribute to a larger purpose through vital roles in our lesson program ( )
🌱 A welcoming and inclusive environment where each member of our community (human and hooved) is valued
🌱 A team-spirit culture where we all work together to create positive, safe, and FUN experiences for our riders and the PLF community.

Today was a “wilderness safari” lesson day at the farm! We hit the trails and saw turtles, a herd of deer, paw paw trees, and lots of different birds and insects!

On July 26th we celebrate this important civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. ⚖️

The purpose of the law is to make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.

TOMORROW – Join us for a volunteer orientation from 4 to 6 pm at our Upper Marlboro location!

Orientation covers an introduction to the facility, an overview of equine-assisted activities, volunteer responsibilities, emergency procedures, confidentiality issues, safety rules and regulations, and an introduction to the population that is served by our program. Please dress for the weather (we will be inside the barn for most of the time) and make sure to wear closed-toed shoes as you will be working around and with the horses.
