When horses are learning new skills sometimes the rider can unintentionally cause them to lose balance or create more tension which can be frustrating for both. This is why long lining can be such an awesome tool in horse training.
Redha starts young horses in the long reins before mounted training. By teaching a young horse impulsion without leg and seat pressure and introducing rein contact without a rider makes the transition to riding in the saddle so much easier!
In the video below, PRE stallion Arturo HPF is the type of horse that can hold tension in his body when learning. The ground piaffe work helped loosen him yet strengthen his body. When asked in the saddle he willingly performed the collected movement very well. Arturo is a very talented boy and we have enjoyed being a part of his journey.
