🦜Today is World Parrot day. 🦜
Today we honor our parrots, both large and small, who bring such joy to our lives.
Hundreds of thousands of parrots suffered and died when these birds were allowed to be imported. Fortunately that stopped in the 1980's.
Today those still in the wild are endangered due to destruction of their habitat and climate changes.

Goldie was seriously ill with an egg peritonitis. Using the Pulsed Magnetic Field Therapy seen in the photo and hormonal therapy Goldie has recovered and is doing great!

Join us in congratulating Dr. Jane! She completed her animal rehabilitation training and is officially a certified rehabilitation training and exam. She is now a Certified Canine Animal Therapist!

We continue to expand our pain treatments. We have added pulsed electromagnetic field therapy which pets seem to enjoy during their treatment!

Lucy is a 6 year old chicken that had this baseball sized concretion surgically removed from her crop. She has recovered well and she's glad that she can eat! Lucy says, "You took that out of ME?!" 🐔

*ATTENTION*
As most of you are aware, we are dealing with an atypical respiratory infection that is affecting dogs nationwide. Although we have not seen any cases here at Windhover, we would suggest limiting your dog’s exposure by avoiding dog parks, daycares, and boarding as much as possible.

More testing is becoming available to help narrow down what this may be and how to treat it. In the meantime, Dr. McMillan is recommending that all dogs begin taking an immune support supplement, Imuquin (pictured below).

This time of year, we do receive an increase in clients calling about their dogs having a cough. Often adding a humidifier will help with this. If your dog begins showing any symptoms, such as a cough that's not improving with added humidity, sneezing, eye or nasal discharge, excessive lethargy, or no desire for food or water please call us at 508-668-4520. We are also taking extra precautions here to help keep your pets safe.

We had 7 Rhodesian Ridgebacks here today for x-rays of hips and elbows (OFAs) so we can evaluate if they would make candidates for breeding. Ridgeback day at the Windhover!
