Have a safe and Happy New Years! 🎉🎉
The New Year is just a few days away! Here are our top pet safety tips so you can welcome in 2024 as safely as pawsible:
-Keep all pets indoors
-Make sure pets have an ID and are chipped
-Keep human food and alcohol away from your pet, and relay to any guests of this as well
-Keep your pet in a cozy area with music or a TV on. These sounds help to drown out any party noises and/or fireworks.
Spread positive New Year vibes by sharing this post! 🎉

The most popular place mid-day at our hospital, the lunch room. Hey Mel, you gonna share that pizza?

December is a wonderfur month – it’s National Cat Lovers’ Month!
Celebrate your feline friend by giving them their favorite treats & extra cuddles. 😻
We are grateful the world has so many “helpers”.
For some of us, the decision to help isn’t really a decision at all. It’s an undeniably strong pull.
It’s a reflex with no thought needed. Empathy is as much a part of us as our beating heart and each breath we take.
Though our sympathy can sometimes be painful and even exhausting, it is not a choice we make.
It is who we are, at our core.
May you all find the strength to keep shining bright in a world that really needs your light.

Sallie has a new kitten “Ollie” she adopted from the Fauquier SPCA. What are the chances she’ll have a skirt actually under the tree this year?
Dog, cat, every homeless animal.

Our pets’ physical exams provide a lot of information on heart, lung, eye, and ear health, but what about what’s going on inside?
Performed at least once a year, blood work panels help us assess your pet’s overall health. Diagnostic labs give us an inside look at how your pet’s liver and kidneys are functioning and help track any changes in their health.

We are delighted to celebrate Debbie's 22nd anniversary with New Baltimore Animal Hospital! She can do everything-- whether it's helping families at the front desk, assisting doctors in surgery, dispensing prescriptions or running our lab equipment, there is nothing in the hospital that she doesn't excel in doing. She also does accounting and is the one who makes sure we have all the medicines we need in stock. Besides all that, her mischievous streak and sense of humor are some of our favorite parts of working with Debbie.
Happy Anniversary Debbie!
Today is National Mutt Day – as if we need another reason to celebrate our mixed-breed bestie.
Do you have a mixed-breed pup? Tell us about your mutt and share a photo of them in the comments below. We’d love to see their faces!

Our house cat Velcro is a little too comfortable here. We found him laying in the cushion used for ultrasounds.
Did you know that the average dog has an intelligence level comparable to a 2-year-old human? 🤔
According to the American Psychological Association, dogs can learn up to 250 words and gestures, equivalent to toddlers. What words does your pet know?
We all love our families and friends but after a busy holiday week we hope you’re able to spend some down time with your pets this weekend.
I love this team…..
Recovering the first of our 2 emergency surgeries today. Thank you for the clients who graciously rescheduled appointments so we could take care of these pups.
MYSTERY DOG ILLNESS
IN OREGON, COLORADO & NEW HAMPSHIRE
Many people are concerned by the news reports lately of a respiratory disease affecting dogs. We are not aware of any local cases at this time. Symptoms include cough, fever and lethargy that lasts longer than a couple days. Scientists looking at the pattern of cases in various places around the country believe this is a virus but testing is ongoing to determine what kind of virus it is. It is testing negative for all known forms of influenza, kennel cough, etc. Thankfully, fatalities have been rare and seem to be amongst some of the dogs that develop a secondary pneumonia.
It would be a good idea to be cautious. Avoid contact with dogs about whom you don't know the health status. Consider avoiding dog parks, unnecessary boarding/grooming and avoiding public watering bowls. If your dog does develop a cough/fever/lethargy, please do not take your pet to a boarding facility or grooming salon or any other place where they might spread illness to other dogs.
Again at this time, we are not aware of any local cases but if that changes, we will post an update.
