Time for a pup-date…a very special pup-date!💌🐾Everyone say hello to Jillian and Baxter! This handsome boy is one of Tink’s sweet pups who was bred and nurtured by Project 2 Heal! Check out Jillian and Baxter’s story!👇“I have had baxter for around 7 years now. I was exploring different options that would allow me to live independently without my parents, so I could go to college. We found Project 2 Heal and I volunteered there for around a year and a half before receiving Baxter! He has been my constant companion. He came with me my senior year of high school and walked accross the stage then too. He lived in the dorms with me, came to every single class I went to and every work shift in the library. He’s definitely ready to retire as a porch dog now.“Congratulations to Jillian for graduating from UNC Asheville, and Baxter for a wonderful 7 years of service and friendship!💙

Check out Holly and Joy’s trip to @loweshomeimprovement! Holly and Joy are now 12 weeks old and are currently enrolled in our Started 4 Service Program! This new program is designed to give our dogs a jumpstart on training which better prepares them for our partner organizations. By assisting with the formal training, we are decreasing the time it takes to get us to get a service dog into the hands of someone in need. Once Holly and Joy have completed their training, they will be going to @newlifek9s in California where they will receive their formal service dog task training! Stay tuned for more updates on Holly and Joy! 💙🐕🦺🛠️🐾🪴
Embarking on a journey of gratitude, we celebrate Manoella for being the guiding light in the lives of Puddles' puppies – the future service heroes in the making! Because of her tireless efforts, these little paws are stepping into a world where they'll go on to do extraordinary things! Thank you Manoella, for nurturing not just pups, but the promise of a brighter, more compassionate future!🐾🌟
Check out Merry, Holly and Joy during their socialization trip to @petsmart! Pet stores can provide a controlled environment for puppies to encounter various people, animals, sights, smells, and sounds! This exposure helps puppies become more adaptable and comfortable in various situations, contributing to their overall social development. This early training enhances their ability to navigate the varied environments they may encounter during their future service work! 🐶🐾🎾🦴💙
Everyone say hello to Frankie! Frankie is a future Assistance Dog in training at @dogsforbetterlives! This sweet boy was bred, nurtured and donated by Project 2 Heal!💙🐾✨
Frankie, along with his brothers Brady, Baxter and Ringo, are apart of a puppy raising program within a correctional institution, where they are being raised and trained by low-risk inmates with the support of trained staff. Once they are 14-16 months old, they will head to the Dogs for Better Lives campus, where they will be evaluated for specific task training in Hearing Assistance, Autism Assistance, or Facility programs!

For future service dogs, socializing at 8 weeks old is especially vital. It instills the necessary confidence and adaptability required for their future roles. Exposure to different environments and people helps them remain calm and focused in diverse situations, a crucial trait in assisting their handlers effectively. Early socialization ensures service dogs can navigate public spaces with ease, providing invaluable support to those who rely on their assistance!
Curious about Stress Down Days?🐾💙

Puddles’ pups are outside and exploring!🐶🍃🐾
At 7 weeks old, puppies are at a critical stage of development where exposure to different environments plays a pivotal role in shaping their behavior. Exploring new surroundings helps them become familiar with various sights, sounds, and smells, promoting sensory development. This early socialization is essential for building their confidence, reducing fear, and fostering positive interactions with people and other animals. Additionally, it contributes to the puppy's adaptability, preparing them for a well-adjusted and emotionally balanced adult life—something crucial for future service dogs.💙
