Across the river is Plattsburgh, NY and because I know my routes, there’s a direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale for a little under half of the cost to Burlington. I always offer cheaper options and let the client decide. Sure enough, the price difference was worth it and delivered the pup to Plattsburgh. Just because a flight is delayed or an airport is closed doesn’t mean I just give up and go home and cancel on my clients. “Guaranteed delivery” means something and it’s been a promise I’ve kept. Some clients ask “why do you need a small bag of puppy food”? Weather is unpredictable and delays can be extended for hours. 4 hours late, but we made it safe and sound. And yes, I did make my return flight home, landed at 330am instead of 1030pm 💤

I get asked all the time what is confirmed vs standby and how to tell the difference. Confirmed will be more expensive, but it's almost GUARANTEED delivery (outside of delays/cancellations) and *usually* comes with a seat assignment. Ask for that proof. Sometimes transporters book basic Economy or Spirit/Frontier/Allegiant/Southwest flights without seats, but 24hrs prior to travel they should have a seat assigned. Standby is no guarantee, especially with Spring Break travel coming up, flights will be full and sold out. Book confirmed, book early. I fill up fast and so do the flights!!!✈️

What was supposed to be an easy turnaround 1 day travel to pick up this pup and go back to Florida turned out to be a bit of a disaster flight wise. Several delays leaving Florida for Ohio meant I had to spend the night in Cleveland, pick up the pup the next day, and rebook on another airline. Once at the airport for the early morning new flight, that plane got delayed for 6hrs. I quickly switched to another airline that was leaving in 2hrs, got a great last minute rate using miles, and made it back home at a decent hour to deliver this pup to a friend. She was very grateful I didn't cancel on her. To date, I've only ever cancelled 2 times, both due to pet safety.
