Ice and Debra Powers had a big adventure to ohio to Rally nationals this week. There were 836 Teams that traveled to Ohio. Novice, intermediate, advanced, excellent, masters, and champions. Out of those 836 Teams were only Top 10 in each division, so that means that only 60 teams Made the top 10. Ice and I were one of the lucky ones. We ended up 10th in the excellent division. What an honor. The scores were tight. The judge tough, the course is fun.It was an absolute blast.

Some of the results of our Wheatland Golden Retriever Club and Wichita Dog Training Club Trial last weekend!

Mikel Miller - Stay connected! Early cues! Handle every obstacle.!! Two Qs this weekend. 1st place in Masters JWW , 1st place Excellent Std. Not bad for a baby dog. So blessed we have this sport!!

Mary Moyer - It was a fun but hot agility weekend at the Wichita Dog Training Club / Wheatland Golden Retriever Club Agility trial. Thanks to everyone that worked so hard and stuck it out. Rudy powered through and was able to get some Q's including his Master Standard Title!

Anna Murray - Absolute Silver Lando Calrissian got his Open Standard title

Cheryl Jackson - Thanks to the Wichita Dog Training Club and Wheatland Golden Retriever Club of Wichita for the fun, if a bit warm, 4-day agility trial (AC was not super great at the facility). Vortex and I had our best weekend EVER, earning 3 Double Q's (Master Standard and Master Jumpers same day),1 Triple Q on Thursday (Master FAST, Master Standard, and Master Jumpers same day), and 2 Time 2 Beat q's. We also got Master Standard Q number 25 for the Master Standard Bronze title. That was 11 qualifying runs out of 13 - I am stunned and proud and humbled - Vortex is such a good boy and I am lucky to have him as my agility partner.😁😲 Thanks to Larry Moyer and Mary Jo Gallager for the videos, all my agility friends for their support and advice, and Susan C. Williams for the sage agility advice and training.

Allyson Skillman - This is Hazel who is owned, ran, and loved by Allyson Skillman RVT. Hazel achieved 2 Novice JWW and STD qualifying runs and placed 1st in all. She got her Novice JWW title moving her to Open. Her very first Open JWW run was flawless getting her another qualifying run and placed 3rd in her height class. Coming into this trial we were worried about and have been working on confidence, weave poles, and the teeter. We are so thankful for all the club members who have supported, help train, and encourage us through our journey getting here. Long story short Hazel cleaned house and I couldn’t be more proud!

Sunflower Cluster of Dog Shows
Congratulations to everyone!!

“Vanna” aka Harmony’s Gogh Big or Go Home SEN SIN SCN had a good weekend at the Sunflower Cluster of Dog Shows. She won her class each day, but on Sunday she was Best of Winners for the point. This put her into Owner Handler Group, and to my amazement, she received Group 1 in Owner Handler Hounds.

Fun at the Sunflower Cluster! Fynn was just super and we did well. After, we tried some swimming at the dock.
Rally Intermediate: 98 (2nd place); 99 (2nd place); 98 (2nd place) = RI Title!
Novice Obedience: 184 (1st place); 195 (1st place); 192.5 (I think…) (2nd place) = CD

Teresa Burks:
DJ (Zarevo Highgarden Teine Hellfire Frozen Over RN) earned 3 RN legs for a new RN title and went BOS on Sunday in the conformation ring
Jordan (Sunlit’s Defying Gravity BN RA BCAT CGCA CGCU TKI) earned 2 CD legs and 3 BN legs for a new BN title

Libby Earned her title in Advanced rally
Ice received a Q in Obedience, 4 triple Q and 4 double Q In Rally And earn his REA title ln Rally Earned a title in masters rally.

Alicia Wilson:
Barbossa: Earned his CDX, Rally Master (RM), Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE), and Dock Master (DM) over the weekend!
Pearlie earned her Dock Master Excellent IV and points towards her Rally championship over the week
Dutchman worked on improving his jumping on the dock!

This past weekend at the Red Dirt Trial in Oklahoma City was super exciting. Long-time WDTC member Mike Gallagher and his Flat Coat Retriever Nate earned their Agility Grand Champion Title (AGCH).

On the same day, new member Helen Smith and her Golden Retriever Yeti earned their Agility Grand Champion Title.

This truly is an agility lifetime achievement award.
To earn the AGCH title, the following number of qualifying scores must be earned:

Master Standard & Master Jumper with Weaves – 100 qualifying scores from each class
Master Fast – 75 qualifying scores
Time 2 Beat – 75 qualifying scores
Premier Standard and Premier JWW – 50 qualifying scores from each class

Congratulations to them all. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called "Theobromine".

It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of caution — check what you are using in your gardens and be aware of what your gardeners are using in your gardens.

Theobromine is the ingredient that is used to make all chocolate — especially dark or baker's chocolate — which is toxic to dogs.

Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

Southern Kansas WDTC Agility Trial

Please congratulate our members for all of their accomplishments last weekend!

Scotland Lamb: Sandy earned her Novice Standard title this weekend! In total she had 5 qualifying runs, one in Open Jumpers, three in Novice Standard, and one in Novice FAST.

Anna Lenhart: Lando got his first two qualifying scores in Open Jumpers and Open Standard.

Cheryl Jackson: Vortex and I had fun and qualified 8 times at the WDTC agility trial this last weekend; 4 Time to Beat for our T2B2 title, 2 Master Jumpers, 1 Master Standard, and 1 Master FAST. We are now CH Mika Vortex Liswyn CD BN RE MX MXJ MJB MXF T2B2 BCAT SIN SEN TKI FMD

Debra Powers: Libby was such a good girl on ehe last day she completed the entire course would have got a Q But was 2 seconds over time. I am so proud of her.

David Jackson: Fun times with friends at Fort Worth Kennel Club dog show March 23-24, 2024. Vortex and David did the conformation thing both days, earned Winners Dog both days, and, pending AKC confirmation, is now an AKC Champion!

Janice Arnold and Jasari traveled to the conformation show in Lawrence. On 4-4-24 He won his Bred By Exhibitor Class & then won Winner’s Dog for 1 point, & Best Of Winners. The next day he went Reserve Winners Dog. She is very proud of Jasari that he’s been showing better in these recent conformation shows. A few days ago on April 9th he is celebrated his 3rd birthday!! Congratulations!!

WDTC had a General Meeting on Tuesday, March 13th. One of our members, Dr. Teresa Burks, gave a great presentation on how to examine our dogs properly and regularly and detect if something may be wrong and need medical attention. She also spoke on life saving procedures for dogs such as CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, and what to do in other emergency situations. She also sent members great video links via email where we can better see these steps in action. The club would like to thank Dr. Burks for sharing her time and knowledge.
