This sweet little lady is Savannah, a young Rottweiler pup. She came in recently to see Sr Kat for her puppy vaccinations to prevent her from picking up any nasty viruses. So cute! 😍 Thanks for visiting Savannah!

This sweet boy called Dobby was rescued by Animal Antics Pet Rescue after being hit by a car on his way to his regular feeding station. The poor pup sustained massive injuries that resulted in him having to have his leg and 1 toe amputated. 😢

Dobby had been in our care for a few weeks, and was finally well enough to recover in a foster home. He arrived recently to have his stitches removed with the best news ever: His foster has fallen in love with him, and he now has a forever home. 🥰

With the weather being so damp this week and in the coming summer months we urge all pet owners to try your best to keep them dry so that they don't fall victim to certain conditions.
Consider:
🧡 Drying pets thoroughly after exposure to rain.
🧡 Regular grooming helps maintain a healthier coat by preventing mats that trap moisture.
🧡 Use protective clothing like waterproof dog jackets when outside or going for walks in the rain.
🧡 Look out for signs of skin irritation or behavioural changes that might indicate discomfort or infection, like licking, scratching, or head-shaking.

Heat stroke in dogs can be very dangerous, especially during hot weather or high physical activity. Here are some key preventative measures to keep dogs safe:

🧡 Limit Outdoor Time: Early morning or late evening walks are safer.
🧡 Provide Shade and Water: Please provide shady areas for your dogs and ensure they have 24hr access to clean, fresh water.
🧡 Avoid Hot Surfaces: Like roads, pavements and beach sand.
🧡 Use Cooling Products: Cooling mats, vests, or collars designed for dogs can help regulate their body temperature. (or a dip in the pool!)
🧡 Watch for Signs of Overheating: Excessive panting, drooling, rapid pulse, weakness, and vomiting. If your dog shows these signs, move them to a cooler area, offer water, and contact a vet immediately.
🧡 Avoid Intense Exercise: Keep activities low-key, especially for breeds that are prone to heat stroke, like bulldogs and pugs.
🧡 Never Leave Dogs in Cars: Just don't. Ever.
🧡 Keep Indoors Cool: Use fans, air conditioning, or open windows to maintain good airflow and comfortable temperatures indoors for your dog.

This is Diesel, the cutest little pup that visited us recently for his puppy vaccinations and check up. Diesel is going on 13 weeks and is growing up strong. He is a cross between a Jack Russel and a Miniature Pinscher.

Miniature Pinschers are fearless, energetic, and alert companion dogs who enjoy the company of their families. Miniature Pinschers can adapt to apartment life, but due to their high energy, they need plenty of exercise.

The energetic Jack Russell needs lots of exercise, is vocal and because of its hunting instinct, has the urge to explore, resulting in a tendency to wander. He is a happy, energetic dog with a strong desire to work, hunt and dig. He also enjoys going along on a hike or a long game of fetch. This is not the breed for you if you prefer a dog who will sit peacefully on the couch all day.
